Rock icon Joan Jett — a longtime champion of the Orioles — will take her commitment to the team to new heights this month when it comes her turn to hose down fans in the Bird Bath as the latest celebrity “guest splasher.”

On June 28, when the Orioles play the defending World Series champion Texas Rangers, Jett will throw the ceremonial first pitch before posting up in the Bird Bath Splash Zone for “98 Rock Night.” There, she’ll become the first woman to test her aim as a guest splasher, the Orioles said Tuesday.

“Any time an icon like Joan Jett comes out to the ballpark it’s always a special occasion,” the team said in a statement.

“Joan is one of our most dedicated fans and we are thrilled for her to join what is becoming a legendary list of guest splashers. Our players and coaching staff, including Major League Field Coordinator/Catching Instructor Tim Cossins, have enjoyed getting to know Joan when she’s attended games over the years, and we know that the fans lucky enough to have seats in the Bird Bath that night are in for an unforgettable experience.”

Past guest splashers have included former Orioles center fielder Adam Jones, Maryland Gov. Wes Moore and Orioles owner David Rubenstein. The Section 86 tradition started last season with “Mr. Splash,” a now-beloved mascot.

The special appearance by Jett later this month will be paired with 98 Rock giveaways and meet-and-greets with the radio hosts. A ticket package including one game ticket and $15 in “loaded value” that can be spent on food, drinks and merch is on sale for $50.
