Third baseman Jordan Westburg exited the Orioles’ series finale against the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday afternoon with a broken right hand, manager Brandon Hyde announced after their 10-4 win.

Westburg was hit by a 95 mph fastball in the fifth inning. The All-Star stayed in the contest after testing his hand with trainer Brian Ebel but did not take the field for the top of the sixth. Ramon Urías replaced him.

Hyde said he hopes Westburg can return before the end of the regular season.

Westburg’s hit by pitch loaded the bases with one out for Jackson Holliday, who crushed a grand slam to Eutaw Street for his first career home run that put the Orioles ahead, 8-3.

“It’s a bittersweet attitude right now,” Hyde said after losing Westburg on a day Jackson Holliday hit his first career homer.

Holliday’s promotion and the club’s intention to play him primarily at second base will likely keep Westburg at third, where he’s proved better defensively this season. The 25-year-old entered Wednesday hitting .271 with 18 homers in his second season, which earned him his first All-Star nod.
