Annapolis will host the 49th annual 10 Mile Run on Sunday. The race will result in a number of parking restrictions and road closures.
The event is organized by the Annapolis Striders, a nonprofit running club “dedicated to personal fitness and mental well-being through distance running,” said Casey Rayburg, its president.
The race begins at 7 a.m. at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium and will last about 2 1/2 hours. The course takes runners through the center of the city and its downtown, onto Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard in Anne Arundel County and back at the stadium with a brief ceremony. Road closures will end at 9:30 a.m. unless otherwise noted. There are 2,652 runners registered for the race, according to Rayburg.
The Annapolis Striders puts on a number of races throughout the county, with the 10 Mile Run being one of the largest.
“If you’re running in the race, it’s a challenging course because of the hills and the warm weather. Don’t go out too fast, but it’s a fun day,” Rayburg said.
Parking
Parking will be prohibited on Randall Street from 6 a.m. Sunday until Annapolis Police reopen the road, according to a news release. Parking on other area roads along the runners’ route will not be affected, including Main Street and King George Street.
