Here’s a roundup of high school varsity action on Thursday, Jan. 11.
Girls basketball
Fallston 48, C. Milton Wright 43: Ayla Galloway’s 21 points led the Cougars over the Mustangs. In the loss, Emma Jankowiac led the Mustangs with 16 points and eight rebounds. Shelby Sullivan chipped in nine points and five rebounds.
Severn 38, Garrison Forest 15: Amyah Heyliger scored 16 points to lead the host Admirals (8-5, 1-3 Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland B Conference) over the Grizzlies (1-5, 0-4). Severn has won four out of the past five games. Friday the Admirals host Bryn Mawr and Garrison Forest travels to Gerstell.
Edgewood 60, Bel Air 23: Jael Erickson scored 16 points and Sam Donovan had 11 points to lead the host Rams over the Bobcats. La’Kel Davis added nine points and seven assists, while India Satterfield came off the bench to chip in nine points. Lilly Smeltzer grabbed seven rebounds, collected four steals and blocked five shots blocks. Phanierra Barnett pulled down six rebounds.
Severna Park 48, Havre de Grace 29: The host Falcons (7-1) extended their winning streak to five games. Ryleigh Curry had eight points and Azareya Whiting had seven points for the Warriors (7-4). Friday, Havre de Grace travels to Joppatowne and Tuesday, Severna Park hosts Old Mill.
Boys basketball
South Carroll 70, Liberty 65: Pieter Borghans scored 22 points, one of three Cavaliers in double figures, to lead the win. Owen Keesey added 13 points and Ian Straley backed him with 11. Aaron Bald led Liberty with 16 points, followed by Alex Thompson’s 15.
Harford Tech 62, Fallston 53: The Cobras’ pressure defense was key in a win over the Cougars. Eric Macharia led the win with 16 points. Karon Evans was strong on both ends of the floor with 14 points, seven steals and three rebounds. Mateo Hiett chipped in 10 points. Brody Fitzkee led Fallston with a game-high 24 points.
Wrestling
South River 51, Marriotts Ridge 24: Trent Shipley, Ben Ford, Aidan Healy and Busayo Balogun among others collected pins for the Seahawks.
Old Mill 37, North Point 28: Tristen Sudama, Keon Gavin and Josiah Mullen all had pins for the Patriots.
