Here’s a roundup of high school varsity action on Thursday, Sept. 19.
Girls volleyball
Bel Air 3, Bohemia Manor 0: Emma Duvall had seven aces and 22 assists to lead the visiting Bobcats over the Eagles. Bel Air won, 25-16, 27-21, 25-12. Other standouts for the Bobcats included: Anna Kane (11 kills, 4 blocks), Aubrie Faulkner (4 kills, 1 block) and Lucy Griger (2 kills, 3 aces).
Patterson Mill 3, Perryville 0: The visiting Huskies beat the Panthers, 25-15, 25-14, 25-10. Zoe Valan led the win with 28 assists, five aces and seven digs. Anna Elliott chipped in five kills and five aces, while Angela Kim led the defense with 26 digs. Sophie Lopano added five kills and 14 digs. For Perryville, Bri Bowman had nine digs and Brooke Taylor finished with six kills, four aces and seven digs.
Fallston 3, Rising Sun 2: Sam Ruth had 20 assists and Mary Pfaff had 24 digs to lead the host Cougars (2-2) past the Tigers. Fallston won, 25-21,15-25, 22-25, 25-18,15-7. Ruth also added eight aces.
C. Milton Wright 3, Aberdeen 2: The Mustangs outlasted the Eagles 25-22, 23-25, 24-26, 25-7, 15-8. CMW was led by Olivia Kobb with 13 kills, Maddie Duffalo with 12 kills, Ana Mioduski with 10 kills and Jenna Ritz with 35 assists.
Annapolis 3, Northeast 0: McHale Hughes went perfect at the service line with five aces and 12 assists in the sweep (25-14, 25-12, 25-20). Christen Brisbane had 12 kills and six digs while Sophia Canuel had six kills and 11 digs. Meg Ronayne made three aces and 12 assists and Lindsay Lyman had five kills and eight digs.
Severna Park 3, Crofton 2: The Falcons won, 25-22, 16-26, 26-24. 25-9, 16-14. Lizzie Ranaghan lead the team in kills with 10. Jennifer Hong had five kills, 10 assists and five digs. Gena Willis had 17 assists and five kills, and Courtlynn Edwards had seven kills and four blocks. In the loss, Miley Keyes still impressed with 16 kills, as did Jordan Alexander with 14. Megan Lasek made six kills, five blocks and five aces. Crofton dropped to 3-1.
Reservoir 3, Marriotts Ridge 0: The Gators (3-2) scored a win over the Mustangs, 26-24, 25-11, 25-9. For Marriotts Ridge (2-3), Katy Harbaugh had seven kills and a block, while Saranya Medavarapu had four blocks. Grace Lei finished with a team-high 17 digs.
Howard 3, Long Reach 1: The Lions (4-0) outlasted the Lightning 25-9, 25-18, 17-25, 25-14. McKenna Brown led the attack with 18 kills, while both Kaleigh Williams and Mariska Ordonez added eight kills. Imagine Peltier keyed the offense with 36 assists and three aces, while Riley Poholsky and Miranda Ball anchored the defense with 14 and 12 kills, respectively.
Manchester Valley 3, Westminster 1: The Mavericks knocked off the Owls, 25-13, 25-15, 19-25, 25-16. Emma Shaffer’s double-double of 18 kills and 13 digs led the win. Emily Troy also tallied a double-double with 12 kills and 15 digs. She also served seven aces. Emily Xiong picked up 17 digs and Carly Figueira had 36 assists.
Liberty 3, Winters Mill 0: The Lions earned the sweep 25-21, 25-19, 25-19. Jasmine Bada lined nine kills in the win. Emme Powers was right behind her with eight kills. Haleigh Hodges led the defense with 14 digs and Paige Rubin tossed up 23 assists. Marielle Riordan had five bocks to go with three kills.
Boys volleyball
Patterson Mill 3, Bel Air 1: The Huskies beat the Bobcats, 25-16, 23-25, 25-21, 25-20. Aidan Mackowiak had 17 kills, six aces and two blocks, Lucas King had six kills, five blocks, and two aces and Grant Hall had 22 digs for Patterson Mill.
Field hockey
Westminster 2, Francis Scott Key 1: Tied into double overtime, Gabi Thomas took an assist from Stevie Schultz and ended the long afternoon scoring the game-winner. The Owls’ Ava Piluk scored assisted by Brigid McAlonan in regulation and Lily Bertier scored for FSK. In goal, Westminster’s Natalie Schultz made 10 saves to keep her team in it.
South Carroll 4, Chopticon 0: Caelin Lopes made six saves to earn the shutout for the Cavaliers, in the process recording the 200th save of her high school career. Dakota Clemens had two goals and Alayna Enoff had a goal and two assists for South Carroll. Emily Maynard also added a goal, while Rowan Miller and Carly Tanis had assists.
Manchester Valley 12, North Harford 0: Shelby Wurzburger led the Mavericks’ offensive eruption with four goals. Lily Brookhart backed her with three. Amanda Herrold had a goal and three assists, while Sophie Baer had a goal and two assists. Taylor Fique, Barb Guest and Georgia Wurzburger also had goals.
Liberty 4, Frederick 0: Clara Robbins had two goals to lead the Lions past the Cadets. Emily Pond had a goal and an assist and Amelia Mustico also scored. Elena Cucci, Tori Schmitz and Hannah McGuinness had assists.
Maryvale Prep 2, Century 1: For Century, Bella Garcia scored the lone goal off an Aubrey Geist assist. Hannah Baglin made 11 saves in goal.
Bel Air 7, Perry Hall 0: Paige Feick had the best offensive output in the county this season with six goals, while also assisting on a goal to lead the host Bobcats over the Gators. Bella Leon scored the Bobcats’ other goal. Julian Feuer and Kaitlyn Carlsen had assists. Raeleigh Sparzak made 13 saves for Perry Hall.
North County 5, Northeast 0: Livia Behegan scored twice to lead the visiting Knights over the Eagles. Maggie Blanford and Katie Von Berg each had a goal and an assist.
Glen Burnie 1, Severn Run 0, 2OT: Rosslyn Reyes-Velasquez scored the game-winner assisted by Madi Fernadez to lift the visiting Gophers over the Wolves. Sydney Green made 12 saves for Glen Burnie.
Broadneck 9, Southern-AA 0: Raleigh Kerst had three goals and an assist and Faith Everett had two goals to lead the host Bruins over the Bulldogs.
Franklin 8, Carver A&T 0: The Indians got a balanced attack with Nora Tromble, Bella Kozak, Talia Oberfeld, Madyson Eisenberg and Lily Logie all providing goals. In goal, senior Ellie Hale recorded one save and secured Franklin’s first shutout of the season.

John Carroll 3, Archbishop Spalding 2: Bella Ottone scored twice and Piper McCue had a goal to lead the Patriots (2-1-1, 1-0 Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference) over the Cavaliers (1-3-1, 0-1). Ava Porrovicchio had an assist for John Carroll.
Patterson Mill 4, Elkton 2: Izabella Collins netted a pair of goals as the Huskies picked up the win. Eliza Baldwin and Kendall Brown also scored. Maddison Ruby, Jaylynn Mayfield-Rice and Sara McNeirney handed out assists. Ella Shriner made three saves in goal.
C. Milton Wright 2, Catonsville 1: All scoring was done in the first half. Victoria Mendez scored unassisted for the Mustangs and Emma Jankowiak scored off an assist from Blake Elliott. Elin Mellendick scored for the Comets assisted by Michaela Conlon.
Fallston 7, Havre de Grace 0: Sarah Farally and Victoria Goad each scored twice to lead the host Cougars over the Warriors. Amber Schauman, Ella Litz and Natalie Schromsky added goals. Maddie Cox made four saves to earn the shutout. Belle Chadwick made 16 saves for Havre de Grace.
Atholton 8, Hammond 0: The Raiders (3-1-1) earned a dominant home win with six different goal scorers. Denive Guy-Williams and Kaila Ibrahim each scored twice, while Ibrahim added an assist. Miley Barrett, Olivia Glassman, Ioana Kostova and Josie Mitchell each scored with Chloe Coughlan dishing out two assists.
Arundel 4, Northeast 0: Sam Scott made three saves and the host Wildcats shut out the Eagles. Nora Emara, Jess Gotshall, Katie Mutziger and McKenzie Roberts each scored.
South River 6, Severn Run 0: Sophomore Cami Burke netted two goals, while the rest were chipped in individually by Reagan Ogle, Ali Siembieda, Samie Clarke and Kat Budowski. Colleen Creswell made three assists, while Adella Norton, Londyn Parker and Ogle each had one. Arianna Bodycomb made four saves.
Marriotts Ridge 5, Oakland Mills 0: The Mustangs (2-2) scored a season-high goals in the win. Both Shania Chan and Lailah Simons scored twice while Clare Jenkins also netted a goal.
Howard 3, Glenelg 1: The Lions won their fourth game in a row to start the season. Brynn Bartlett, Sydney Rhodes and Sadie Smith scored in the win as Londyn Minor had an assist.
Hereford 3, Perry Hall 2: Caden Bennis hit the back of the net twice in the first half to stake the Bulls to a halftime lead. But after the Gators battled back to tie, Bella DeSantis knocked in the game-winner with five minutes left for the Bulls.. Aaliyah Stocks and Sophia Rongione provided assists. CJ Harvey made three saves in goal to secure the win.
Sparrows Point 4, Eastern Tech 3: Ami Walters tallied a hat trick and assisted on the Pointers’ fourth goal, as her team claimed a thriller over the Mavericks. Allysa Hartman had the other Sparrows Point goal. Chelsea Stubel had two assists, Julie Roberts had one and Ally Foos made six clutch saves in goal.
Francis Scott Key 3, Aberdeen 2: Abby Rieger scored all three Eagles goals to lift them to the win. Mallory Robertson and Camryn Gillis provided assists. Lily LaPierre anchored the defense with nine saves in goal.
South Carroll 2, Linganore 1: Sydney Mossman’s 10 saves were crucial as the Cavaliers held off Linganore. Kelly Paul scored the winning goal with roughly 10 minutes left, heading home a pass from Bree Hancock. Mia Talley scored the Cavaliers’ first goal.

Pikesville 8, Loch Raven 0: Hamin Oladokun netted a hat trick to lead the Panthers’ offensive outburst. Bryan Machado and Ablante Fesseha each tallied two goals with Machado adding two assists. Sam Leckner handed out four assists, while Ben Rose also had a goal.
St. Mary’s 5, Fallston 0: Charlie Roy scored two goals to lead the host Saints (5-0-1) over the Cougars. The win was the fifth consecutive win.
Chesapeake-AA 2, Severna Park 1, OT: Connor Weaver scored the tying goal to force overtime where Aydan Simms scored the game-winner. The game was tied 1-1 in the first half.
Glen Burnie 1, Annapolis 1: Oscar Silva scored for the visiting Gophers, but the game ended in a draw. Dylan Cunningham made four saves for Glen Burnie. Both teams scored in the first half.
Broadneck 2, Southern 1: Braeden Kelly and Will Epley each scored to lead the visiting Bruins beat the Bulldogs. Diego Lopez made 10 saves for Southern.
Golf
North Harford 193, Rising Sun 211: The Hawks won the match at Geneva Farm. Lucas Parks shared the low score of the day, shooting a 34. Also for North Harford, Coulter Parsons shot a 38, Greg Sebring and Tyler Fialcowitz each carded 40s and Logan Rakestraw added a 41.
C. Milton Wright 193, Harford Tech 199, Bohemia Manor 234: The Mustangs won the tri-meet at Back Creek. Jack Geyer earned medalist honors shooting a 33. Also for CMW, Sean Downey shot a 36, Isaac Scrocca shot a 40 and Ryan Kilchenstein added a 41. Jackson Parks’ 35 topped the Cobras. Nate Frommeyer added a 39 and Kacy Day shot a 40.
Fallston 190, North East 219, Bel Air 252: Three Cougars broke 40 as the team was victorious in the tri-meet. Cam Konkle was medalist with a 35, Ronald Barkhorn was right behind him with a 36 and Sarai Moss shot a 38. Fallston also got a 40 from Trent Carey and a 41 from Jasper Kilan. Bel Air was led by Kyle Drew with a 41. Braden Leeson added a 49.
Sparrows Point 170, Eastern Tech 182: Jason Ivey shot a 37 and Lucas Muranko backed him with a 39 to lead the Pointers over the Mavericks. Carter McDermott added a 44 in the win and Brayden Feldpush shot a 40. For Eastern Tech, Matt Cherundolo and Gavin Wienhold shot matching 43s. Eli Irwin shot a 46 and Cole Burns added a 50.
Glenelg boys 73, Howard 68: The Gladiators edged the Lions in a tight battle. Clark Sharbaugh and Drew Hanna each finished with a team-high 21 points in the win. For Howard, Krish Patel had 23 and Ronan Menon had 22.
Glenelg girls 37, Howard 27: Samadhi Tennakoon spearheaded the Gladiators in the win with 19 points.
