Here’s a roundup of high school varsity action on Friday, Sept. 27.
Football
South Carroll 13, Manchester Valley 0: Manny Rodrigues had a 2-yard touchdown run and Davy Snyder had an interception return for a touchdown and the host Cavaliers beat the Mavericks. The game was scoreless in the first half. Caleb Evans completed 11 of 23 passes for 62 yards and added 43 yards on the ground on five rushes. Jake Miller led the receiving corps with four catches for 34 yards.
Edgewood 14, Bel Air 7: The host Rams (4-0) beat the Bobcats (2-2). Friday, Edgewood travels to Joppatowne and Bel Air hosts C. Milton Wright.
Patterson Mill 24, Bohemia Manor 10: RJ Wilhelm scored two touchdowns to lead the visiting Huskies over the Eagles. Junior Council also had a touchdown for the Huskies against his former school.
North Harford 35, Kenwood 12: Donnie Mullins scored two touchdowns to lead the host Hawks over the Bluebirds. Mullins had two rushing touchdowns of 1 yard and 56 yards. The Hawks led 8-6 at halftime before erupting in the second half.
Arundel 70, Northeast 0: The Wildcats routed the Eagles behind three touchdowns from running back TJ Mordecai (107 yards) and a touchdown each from Naseem Tention, Brandon Gorham, Elijah Caldwell, Ahmir Lowery, Kaleb Omotosho, Jonathan Coleman and Shariff Glassgow. Lowery was 9-for-13 for 160 yards and two touchdowns.
Annapolis 42, South River 14: Tyler Womack rolled in 19 carries for 196 yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback Darrian Carter rushed for 136 yards and two touchdowns on six carries, and threw two touchdowns for 79 yards.
Archbishop Spalding 51, Gilman 0: Defensive lineman Delmar White rushed in two touchdowns, as did Blake Howell and Antonio Ledbetter for the unbeaten Cavaliers. AJ Perdue had one and Cooper Welch booted a field goal.
Broadneck 42, Glen Burnie 27: The Gophers were locked with Broadneck through the third quarter until the Bruins (4-0) were led by Ian Mauldin to victory.
Field hockey
Marriotts Ridge 8, Oakland Mills 0: Caroline Wojtech scored twice to lead the visiting Mustangs over the Scorpions. Marriott Ridge led 6-0 in the first half.
Bryn Mawr 8, South Carroll 0: Simone Schwartz had a hat trick and Addie Polakoff and Cate Tortolani had two goals each to lead the host Mawrtians (5-1) over the Cavaliers. Caelin Lopes made 16 saves for South Carroll.
North County 10, Meade 0: Katie Von Berg and Roxy Stephenson each scored two goals to lead the Knights over the Mustangs.
C. Milton Wright 2, North East 1: Josie Mouring and Autumn Rutkowskk each scored to lead the visiting Mustangs over the Indians.
Fallston 4, Sparrows Point 3: The Cougars beat the Pointers in a game that came down to one-on-ones. Layla King and Sydney Grafton scored for the Cougars in regulation. Anna Adamec and Olivia Park score one-on-one goals. Avery Lane made five saves and stopped 4 of 5 one-on-one shots. Danielle Anderson had two regulation goals for the Pointers.
Bel Air 6, Rising Sun 0: Paige Feick had three goals and two assists to lead the host Bobcats over the Tigers. Tiegan Sponaugle made five saves for Rising Sun and Sydney Kennedy had six saves for Bel Air.
St. Mary’s 3, Severn 0: Emma McCarthy made eight saves and the host Saints (4-2-1, 3-0 IAAM B Conference) shut out the Admirals (5-2-1, 2-1). Ava Boland scored twice for St. Mary’s.
Centennial 1, River Hill 0, OT: Ava Rudy scored the game-winner to lift the visiting Eagles over the Hawks.
Girls soccer
St. Mary’s 1, National Cathedral (D.C.) 0: Freshman Mia DeFrancesca scored the deciding goal assisted by Leah Hamilton and the Saints (4-2) beat the host Eagles (0-2). Abby Hanks made eights saves for St. Mary’s.
Severn 3, Friends 1: The host Admirals (5-2-1, 2-2 Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland B Conference) got goals from Madison Watson, Nia Hudson and Peach Wellschlager. Lillian Marr made eight saves for the Quakers ( 3-4, 0-2). Severn outshot Friends, 28-4.
Volleyball
Dulaney 3, Carver A&T 0: The host Lions beat the Wildcats. Dulaney won, 25-8, 25-6, 25-7.
