Volleyball
South Carroll 3, Winters Mill 1: Tied at a set apiece, the Cavaliers rolled in the next two for a 25-7, 21-25, 25-14, 25-13 win. Elaina Murphy put down 20 kills in the victory to go with 12 digs and four aces. Kaelyn Bowyer backed her with six kills and Jenna Todd and Taylor Berger added five each. Pia White had 26 assists and four aces.
Manchester Valley 3, Harford Tech 0: The Mavericks cruised to the nonconference win 25-9, 25-7, 25-7. Emily Troy served 12 aces, the most in one match by a Carroll County player this season. She also put down nine kills. Emma Shaffer added 12 kills, while Chloe Figueira and Caitlin Ash each chipped in six. Carly Figueira tossed up 30 assists.
Marriotts Ridge 3, Oakland Mills 0: The Mustangs swept the Scorpions, 25-18, 25-5, 25-3. Katy Harbaugh’s 11 kills led the offense. She also had three blocks. Kelly Swenson added five kills, Audrey Lee served six aces, Grace Lei served four and Eva Hull tossed up 15 assists.
Eastern Tech 3, Carver A&T 0: The Mavericks beat the Wildcats, 25-18, 25-16, 25-11.
Edgewood 3, Parkville 1: The Rams topped the Knights in nonconference action, 25-14, 25-11, 23-25, 25-13.
Field hockey
Glenelg 8, Long Reach 2: The Gladiators topped the Lightning to win the Howard County championship. Brinkley Eyre had a hand in five of the Gladiators’ goals, scoring four and assisting on one. Lakshmi Almli added two goals, while Meghan Walker and Lexi Winters each had a goal and an assist.
