High school sports roundup (Jan. 18)

Here’s a roundup of high school varsity action on Thursday, Jan. 18.

Girls basketball

C. Milton Wright 61, Bohemia Manor 19: Emma Jankowiak posted a double-double to lead the Mustangs. She finished with 15 points and 12 rebounds, and also collected four steals. Sam Wolfkill backed her with 11 points and four rebounds.

North Harford 44, Elkton 30: Caroline Nicholson scored 21 points to lead the visiting Hawks over the Golden Elks. Other top scorers for North Harford included Emily Signor (12 points) and Payton Dibokowitz (11 points).

Edgewood 59, Havre de Grace 29: La’Kel Davis scored a game-high 17 points to lead the host Rams over the Warriors. Sam Donovan had 11 points and six assists. Lilly Smeltzer had 12 rebounds and Phanierra Barnett grabbed seven for Edgewood.

Patterson Mill 43, Fallston 36: Down six at halftime, the Huskies overtook the Cougars with a 15-4 third-quarter run. Rylie Madsen led the win with 13 points and nine rebounds. Kiley Wilhelm backed her with nine points and six rebounds. Jazmyne Jordan chipped in seven points and three steals.

Mount de Sales 58, Indian Creek 42: Shelby Lewis had 18 points and 10 rebounds and Mackenzie Conley had 17 points to lead the host Sailors (11-4) over the Eagles (11-5). The victory was the third straight. Malinda Morgan had 17 points for Indian Creek.

Manchester Valley 46, Winters Mill 32: A balanced offense keyed the Mavericks in a win over the Falcons. Autumn Stottlemire finished with 10 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Reese Kresslein and Molly Smith each finished with nine points. Maya Trump pulled down nine rebounds.

Gerstell 44, John Carroll 22: Mimi Delone had 11 points, including 7-for-10 from the line, and Miley Alguire had 10 points to lead the visiting Falcons (8-5, 4-0 Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland B Conference) over the Patriots (7-4, 3-2). The victory was the fifth straight.

Boys basketball

Joppatowne 78, Bel AIr 51: Kishann Smith had 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead the host Mariners (7-4) over the Bobcats (5-7). Other top scorers for Joppatowne included: Phil Clark (14 points), Damian Brooks (13 points) and Dartanun Blakney (12 points). Brooks also had four steals and four assists. The Mariners led 44-21 in the first half.

Patterson Mill 77, Aberdeen 52: James Kropp had 25 points and James Hammond had 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead the host Huskies (9-0) over the Eagles (4-8). Other top scorers for Patterson Mill included Colin Luddy (11 points) and Drew Pape (10 points). Darion Parris had 15 points for Aberdeen.

Fallston 69, North Harford 65: Oliver Rueckert made two free throws with four seconds left to secure the win for the visiting Cougars (3-5). Rueckert finished with 17 points and seven rebounds. Brody Fitzkee had 18 points for Fallston. Demetrious Densmore scored a game-high 27 points for the Hawks (1-10).

Westminster 51, Francis Scott Key 50: Micah Ozgar made a reverse layup at the buzzer to lift the visiting Owls over the Eagles. Westminster outscored FSK, 20-10, in the fourth quarter. Ozgar and Shae Greenwood each scored 11 points for the Owls.  Jah Donald had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds, and blocked two shots. Tyler Hanson scored 15 points and Auggie Bertrand had 14 points for the Eagles.

McDonogh 41, John Carroll 40: Rob Fields scored 22 points to lead the host Eagles (12-4) over the Patriots (13-9).

Wrestling

Manchester Valley 61, Bel Air 21: The Mavericks beat the Bobcats. Manchester Valley got pins from Kyle Reid (106), Lance Chapman (113), Kyle Hydorn (126), Beau Snell (132), Camden Yowell (150), Kameron Reid (157), Gunnar Grimm (190) and Cru Boog (285),
