Here’s a roundup of high school varsity action on Tuesday, Oct. 29.

Girls soccer

Sparrows Point 11, Patapsco 0: The defending Class 2A state champions are back in the quarterfinals after a decisive victory over the Patriots in the North Region I finals. Reaghan Wheeler and Kylie Stambaugh each scored two goals in the win. Madyson Costello, Ami Walters, Allysa Hartman, Lilah Kern, Lilly Parks, Gianna Orsino and Allison Crowe all added goals.

Bel Air 1, Poly 0: Ally Mace’s overtime goal off an Alyssa Foote assist sent the Bobcats to the state quarterfinals. Emmy Schiller made two saves to earn the shutout. Alexis Fisher had eight saves for Poly.

Harford Tech 4, Patterson Mill 0: The Cobras got a pair of goals from Ashley Shelton, plus a goal and an assist from Abby Downes as they topped the Huskies for the 1A North Region II championship. Caroline Korczak also had an assist for the Cobras and Faith Orsini made seven saves in goal. Ella Shriner made eight saves for Patterson Mill.

C. Milton Wright 1, Rising Sun 0: After a scoreless first half, Mackenzi Milich finally broke the deadlock, scoring the game’s only goal in the 65th minute off an assist from Delainey Proctor. The defense and goalkeeper Alix Bramble made it hold up as the Mustangs won the 2A East Region I championship. Bramble finished with three saves in the shutout.

Liberty 2, South Carroll 1: Aver Asom and Bryce Sarver scored goals, while Mady Smith made seven clutch saves in net to lead the Lions to the 1A North Region I championship. Marley Roach and Hannah DeVincent had assists.

Century 1, Middletown 0: The 2A West Region I final went scoreless deep into the second half until Lenah Ham served a ball into the box that Lexi McGinnis headed past Middletown’s goalie for the game’s only goal. Defenders Cassidy Shaffer, Sophie Parker, Cailyn Stine and Alaina Zeigler combined with goalie Megan Taltavull for Century’s ninth straight shutout. Taltavull collected seven saves.

Boys soccer

Perry Hall 2, Kenwood 1: The Gators scored twice in the first eight minutes and held on to win the 4A North Region I championship. Jacob Bondyra finished a Riley Ellenberger pass five minutes into the game for the first goal. Parker Newman scored off a Ryan Varricchio assist three minutes later. Kenwood got a goal from Jean Claude to get within one, but couldn’t find an equalizer.

Broadneck 3, Annapolis 0: Wilson Banwell scored two goals to lead the Bruins to the regional championship. Braeden Kelly also hit the back of the net in the win. Ryan Ball, Jed Meehan and Kelly had assists. Joe Brenner made two saves to earn the shutout, while Oskar Pietrowski stopped four shots for Annapolis.

Liberty 3, Pikesville 1: The Lions got a balanced offense to beat the Panthers and win the 1A North Region I championship. Lucas Britos, Will Paucar and Hamza Kahn all scored in the win with Ryan Clapper, Ethan Carpenetti and Justin Kish handing out assists. In goal, Jaxon Vanderhoof made six saves. Pikesville’s Josh Kaplan finished the night with 17 saves.

Century 4, Walkersville 1: Nick McGhin had a hat trick to put the Knights, last year’s Class 2A runners-up, back into the state quarterfinals. Jackson Barioto also hit the back of the net for Century. Tyler Ruch, Chase Peterson and Braden Davis all had assists.

Harford Tech 0 (4), Patterson Mill 0 (2): The reigning Class 1A state champs kept their defense alive with a shootout victory in the 1A North Region II final. Brody Smith, Robert Brzezinski, Keegan Luu and Christopher Jimenez had shootout goals for the Cobras.

Field hockey

North County 5, Perry Hall 1: The Knights topped the Gators in the 4A North Region I championship game. Maggie Blanford led the win with two goals and an assist. Maddie Feuerhand chipped in one goal and one assist. Roxt Stephenson and Addy Jun also scored. Delaney Evans scored for Perry Hall on a stroke.

Severna Park 4, South River 0: The Falcons scored all their goals in the first half and cruised to the 3A East Region I championship. Grace Moran had a hand in three of the goals, scoring two and assisting on one. Sydney Day and Hannah Pope also scored. Ava Zimmerman and Katie Wiseman had assists.

Broadneck 1, Leonardtown 0: Raleigh Kerst scored the only goal to lift the Bruins to the 4A East Region II championship. Mia Moody made nine saves in goal for Broadneck and Clare Imber added a defensive save.
