Here’s a roundup of high school varsity action on Monday, Jan. 22.

Girls basketball

South River 56, North County 10: Skylar Woodyard netted 20 points, while also collecting five assists and three steals to lead the Seahawks. Maggie Groves backed her with a double-double, 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Southern 60, Meade 36: Ava Wooster posted a double-double with 10 rebounds and a game-high 23 points. Huntyr Marks added 13 for Southern, while Evhan Smith scored 13 for Meade.

Broadneck 48, Chesapeake 38: Down three going into the fourth, Broadneck held Chesapeake to only four points in the final frame. Sam Miller led the Bruins with 19 points and London Best backed her with 15. Kasey Slade scored 11 to lead the Cougars, while Maggie Lawrence had a double-double with 10 points and 16 rebounds.

Fallston 53, Havre de Grace 22: The Cougars were led by senior Ayla Galloway’s 19 points, 13 rebounds and five steals. Lilly Burns added 12 points and five steals in the convincing win.

Edgewood 64, Aberdeen 44: La’Kel Davis led all scorers with 23 points for the Rams. Sam Donovan added a well-rounded 18 with seven assists. Meanwhile, the Eagles had three double-digit scoring efforts in the loss: 15 points from Nyjah Harris, 12 from Jazmyn Kemp, and 10 courtesy of Amara Armstrong. Kemp and Armstrong additionally dominated on the glass with 16 and 12 rebounds, respectively.

North Harford 65, Bo Manor 40: Caroline Nicholson’s triple-double was the difference maker Monday night for the Hawks. The senior finished with 20 points, 10 rebounds and 11 steals. Emily Signor chipped in 13 with seven rebounds and Lauren Nicholson has 12 with seven assists. Every North Harford player scored in the win.

Patterson Mill 44, Harford Tech 26: The Huskies won their 10th straight game in impressive fashion. Sophi Trinh topped the team with 21 points to go with three steals. Kiley Wilhelm had a double-double with 11 points and 17 rebounds, while Rylie Madsen chipped in 12 points and six rebounds.

Bel Air 58, C. Milton Wright 32: The dominant Bobcats win came on the shoulders of 18 points from Rachel Taylor, 16 from Paige Feick and another 14 from Gabby Awuah. Bel Air had jumped out to a 41-14 lead by halftime and coasted to the finish line. Carley Jehnert had 15 points and three steals to lead the Mustangs.

Marriotts Ridge 29, Wilde Lake 25: The Mustangs earned their first win of the season as Peyton Albert had 10 points and Anna Hendrickson added six. Deja Williams had 11 points for Wilde Lake.

St. Mary’s 57, St. Timothy’s 55: Bailey Harris made a layup with four seconds left in regulation to give the Saints the win. Harris totaled 25 points in the game. Alexandre Vandiver added 15 points and Baily Walden scored 12.

Gerstell 55, Notre Dame Prep 25: Gerstell (9-5, 5-0 IAAM B Conference) jumped out a 12-5 lead after one and never looked back, leading 24-8 at halftime. Eniyah Stinnette was stingy inside, blocking six shots to go with her eight points. Kiara Hardy finished with 16 points, 10 coming in the third quarter. Annie Jackson backed her with 12 points.

Boys basketball

Perry Hall 65, Edgewood 56: The difference was at the foul line, where the Gators hit 23 of 27 shots, while Edgewood was just 4-for-18. Brandon Williams led the win with 21 points. Backing him was Jayden Beaton with 18 and Tyler Thomas with 14.

Severna Park 56, Northeast 55: Trailing by a point with nine seconds to go, Liam Cleary found a cutting Brendan Abell who squeezed through the Northeast defense to hit a shot as time expired to give the Falcons the win. Severna Park was led by Abell and Upton Young with 15 points apiece. Cleary finished with 13 for the Falcons.

South River 63, North County 54: James Crimaudo led a balanced offense in the win with 18 points. Jaden McDuffie was right behind him with 17 and Jack Schrader chipped in 15.

Broadneck 71, Chesapeake-AA 25: Jordan Brown led the Bruins with 13 points in the big win. Devin McGowan and Shawn Lewis each scored eight points.

Gerstell 50, Annapolis Area Christian School 48: The Falcons edged the Eagles behind 28 points, three assists and four rebounds from Caleb Franze. Colin Toms and Gavin Zemencik each grabbed 10 rebounds with Toms adding eight points. Malcolm Wingo chipped in six points and nine rebounds.

South Carroll 54, Westminster 49: Tied at halftime, South Carroll came out and won the third quarter, 15-10, which turned out to be the difference in the game. Ian Straley and Benson Sommerfeldt each scored 12 in the Cavaliers’ win. Micah Puckett was the third player scoring in double figures finishing with 10 points. Jah Donald led Westminster with 10 points and seven rebounds. Tanek Zitta chipped in seven points..

Fallston 70, Bohemia Manor 60: After trailing by a point t halftime, the Cougars raced away in the second half with four players scoring in double figures. Oliver Schamburg led the win with 15 points, while Brody Fitzkee and Oliver Rueckert each scored 14 with Rueckert grabbing eight rebounds. Max Rueckert added 12 points.
