Severna Park and Archbishop Spalding captured the Class 3A and Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference titles, respectively. Crofton embarked on a deep run to the 4A final, while other teams like Chesapeake competed well into November.

Here are the 2024 girls soccer All-County teams.

Player of the Year: Abby Cover, Severna Park senior midfielder

Coach of the Year: Rick Stimpson, Severna Park

A first team All-State selection, the senior moved from midfield because Chesapeake (15-4-1) needed her to and she responded by netting 17 goals and seven assists.

“This year we had a hole at forward and she volunteered to fill the gap. She answered the call,” Chesapeake coach Kevin Keeter said.

Maria Bragg, Severna Park, junior, forward

The three-sport star’s two goals in the 3A state final were the icing of her 13-goal, 13-assist season. She is a Florida lacrosse commit.

“Maria is a game changer in attack. She has Incredible speed and strength and is calm in front of goal,” Stimpson said. “She works very hard on both sides of the ball making her one of the most impactful players in the state.”

Brynn Mitchell, Glen Burnie, senior, forward

The Salisbury commit scored nine goals this season for the Gophers and she earned honorable mention All-State recognition.

“This season she was a great leader for us both on and off the field and helped our younger group grow and gel as a team,” coach Kreghan Rebstock-Lane said. “It was obvious at times that a lot of opponents prepped for her in being our attacking threat. Brynn can score in multiple situations of the game and she is quick in beating teams on their back line.”

Raegan Ogle, South River, senior, forward

After an ACL tear wiped out her junior season, Ogle returned to lead South River in scoring with nine goals and nine assists.

“She is fearless in the attack. She can capitalize on defensive mistakes and create goals or assists,” coach Christine Flanagan said. “She is great on 50/50 balls, almost always coming out on the other side, and drives so much with quick speed and 1v1 play in the box that make her a huge threat.”

Receiving some of the most votes among county coaches, the Cardinals sophomore garnered 14 goals and four assists for the Class 4A state finalists.

Anna Sis, Southern, senior, forward

The four-year varsity starter and second team All-State pick led Southern in both goals (19) and assists (14).

“Anna was able to dribble through most all teams and when playing against Severna Park and Chesapeake,” Bulldogs coach Laura Coe said. “Both teams had to double team her, to keep her at bay.”

The Flagler University commit was one of three Anne Arundel players to make first team All-State after leading her Cavaliers to the IAAM A Conference title with eight goals and four assists.

“Her ability to hold the ball up, make dangerous runs, and put herself in scoring moments have been a pivotal source of confidence for our team,” coach Ashly Kennedy said.

Grace Gartrell, Broadneck, senior, midfielder

The attacking midfielder made second team All-State after compiling 15 goals and five assists for the Bruins.

“She was easily our best player this season,” coach John Camm said. “She had very good skills and was very aggressive.”

Olivia Nardone, Spalding, senior, midfielder

The UMBC commit battled back from a quad pull at the top of the season to net four goals and six assists in the second half of the fall and help bring Spalding the IAAM A title.

“She is physically strong and dominates in the air with poise,” Kennedy said. “She reads the game extremely well and uses her strong communication skills to orchestrate our back line, staying connected and organized as a unit.”

Ava Scott, Severna Park, junior, midfielder

Four goals and seven assists – including in the county championship, 3A state semifinal and state final – earned the three-year second team All-State honors.

“She’s a skillful hardworking player that links up our midfield and forwards,” Stimpson said. “She’s great on the ball and can score from anywhere on the field.”

Bella Van Gieson, Severna Park, senior, midfielder

The three-year starter, captain and William & Mary lacrosse commit compiled three assists and contributed majorly to 13 shutouts.

“Bella is the glue on this team. She’s a great leader that fills all the holes the attacking players leave when going forward,” Stimpson said. “Constantly breaks up other teams plays and wins possession so she can start our attacks. Great on the ball and rarely turns it over.”

Emerson Scott, Severna Park junior defender

Her second team All-State selection was borne of two goals, seven assists and 13 shutouts.

“Already she’s a great defender, but she’ll be just as good going forward,” Stimpson said. “She starts a lot of our attacks out of the back by dribbling past players or with her incredible range of passing.”

Colleen Creswell, South River, senior, defender

She was named to the All-State honorable mention team for not only scoring six goals and six assists, but deftly maintaining a stingy Seahawk defense all fall that compiled seven shutouts.

“Her speed and attacking the flanks on 1v1s make her a dangerous player supporting the attack, whether it is a shot from distance or service into the box,” Flanagan said. “She excels in every role wherever I shift her in games. She has a great work ethic, leads by example, and has been an incredible captain for this team.”

Grace Boritz, North County, senior, defender

The four-year starter and honorable mention All-State choice anchored North County’s historic season, from most wins in school history (seven) and first region final appearance.

“Gracie is a tough, blue-collar defender who matches up against any player,” coach Dominic Cosentino said. “Her ability to track players and her physicality is unmatched.”

Becca Flom, Crofton, senior, defender

Garnering the most votes for coaches’ All-County, the senior defender was crucial to the Cardinals recording 10 shutouts.

Smoot racked up 118 saves and 14 shutouts in 20 games. The highlight of her season was on Oct. 25 against Mount Hebron, when she stopped three penalty kicks to advance Chesapeake to the region final.

“Ryleigh was the rock of our defense this year,” Keeter said.
