High school sports roundup (Feb. 1)

Here’s a roundup of high school varsity action on Thursday, Feb. 1.

Girls basketball

Joppatowne 29, C. Milton Wright 24: Junior Taylor Horsey scored a game-high 12 points to lead the Mariners to victory.

Rising Sun 53, Aberdeen 29: Nyjah Harris’ 11 points, five rebounds and three assists accounted for the Eagles’ top performance in the loss.

Bel Air 57, Bo Manor 49: Gabby Awuah’s 17 points were a team high in the Bobcats’ win. Bel Air held a one-point lead at halftime.

Park School 40, Beth Tfiloh 26: Sophie Zirkin’s 31 points on nine 3-pointers made the difference, pushing Park to 8-3 in conference play.

Edgewood 52, Harford Tech 37: The Cobras trailed 20-2 at the half but crawled back in the loss. Sophia Mace had a team-high nine points, four rebounds and four steals. Abi Marcello added eight points with five boards.

North Harford 48, North East 27: Junior Emily Signor had a dominant outing with 24 points and 16 rebounds. Senior Caroline Nicholson contributed 19 points with four boards.

Boys basketball

Lake Clifton 67, ACCE 42: Senior guard Deon Mcpherson scored 22 points and pulled down eight rebounds in the win. Senior forward Jermel Miles contributed 16 points for the Lakers.
