Here’s a roundup of high school varsity action on Wednesday, Feb. 7.

Girls basketball

Hereford 60, Lansdowne 14: The Bulls went up 36-9 at halftime, then further put the game away shutting out the Vikings in the third quarter. Lauren Kraft scored 10 of her 13 points in the first quarter. Gabby Nieberlein finished with nine points. Ten Hereford players scored in the game.

Hammond 73, Marriott Ridge 16: Sara Yarnell scored a team-high 25 points for the Golden Bears, while Nia Green had a double-double with 15 points and 10 assists. Asia Mitchell and Kayley Washington each scored 12 as well for Hammond. Lamees Bazzi scored eight points for Marriotts Ridge.

Oakland Mills 61, Reservoir 49: Destiny Macharia led the way for the Scorpions with 22 points, while Chloe Grenway added 12. Jeriah Shipp also had 12 points including six crucial points in the fourth as well as several late rebounds and steals. For Reservoir, Gabi Burian had 20 points, while Jasmin Shelton added 14.

Mt. Hebron 42, Glenelg 36: The Vikings built a 14-2 lead after the opening quarter. Jaelyn Peters scored 13 points, while Pearl Prasartkarnka added 10. For Glenelg, Jordan Henggeler had 10 points as Reese Holden chipped in nine.

Howard 42, Atholton 39: Both O Daniel and Riley Watson scored 13 points to lead Howard in the win. The Lions led by three at halftime.

Centennial 53, Long Reach 28: Adria Welsh scored a game-high 18 points in the win for the Eagles, as Ayana Moore added 10 points. For Long Reach, Jaiden Bryant had a team-high 13 points.

Pikesville 73, New Town 45: Mariah Jones-Bey scored 27 points to lead the visiting Panthers over the Titans. Other top scorers for Pikesville included: TyKeisha Hill (11 points, 11 rebounds) and Bree Taylor (16 points).

Southern 66, Arundel 17: Ava Wooster led all scores with 18 points to go with eight rebounds for the Bulldogs. Huntyr Marks added eight points and four assists, followed by Gabrielle Tompkins with seven points and five rebounds.

Fallston 44, John Carroll 41: The Cougars were led by a 21-point, 20-rebound outing from senior Ayla Galloway. Junior Natalie Wirth chipped in 12 points with six boards in the narrow win.

Francis Scott Key 43, Manchester Valley 35: A close battle the entire way, the Eagles pulled away in the fourth quarter to earn the win. Caroline Kohr and Drew Watkins each posted double-doubles. Kohr had 13 points and 11 rebounds; Watkins tallied 11 points and 12 rebounds. Summer Brooks had nine points and four assists, while Kensi Bancroft had six steals. For Manchester Valley, Autumn Stottlemire led with 12 points. Molly Smith backed her with nine points, four rebounds and five steals.

Gerstell 56, St. John’s Catholic Prep 47: Eniyah Stinnette had 16 points and 16 rebounds and Kiara Hardy had 16 points to lead the host Falcons (13-6, 9-0 Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland B Conference) over the Vikings (9-10, 5-4). Friday, St. John’s hosts Severn and Gerstell will host Concordia Prep in the regular-season finale.

Boys basketball

South River 75, Winters Mill 55: Five Seahawks scored in double figures led by James Crimaudo with 27 points. Jaden McDuffie and Liam Barney each netted 12 points. Jonah Hall chipped in 11 and Jack Schrader scored 10.

Meade 67, North County 45: The host Mustangs (14-4, 5-3 Anne Arundel) opened with a 19-9 run and beat the Knights. Josh Holmes had 17 points and Ashton Truman had 15 points for Meade. The Mustangs travel to Northeast on Friday.

Severna Park 62, Chesapeake 39: The Falcons won their second game in three days. Liam Cleary and Brendan Abell led the way with 15 and 14 points, respectively. Keaghan Gorski and Tucker Moran each chipped in seven points.

South Carroll 60, Liberty 57: The Cavaliers edged the Lions led by Pieter Borghans’ 14 points. Benson Sommerfeldt and Nate Houston were right behind him, each with 13 points. Tristen West led Liberty with 14 and Alex Thompson added 11.

Manchester Valley 47, Francis Scott Key 39: Brendan Luddy scored a game-high 17 points to lead the host Mavericks over the Eagles. Other top scorers for Manchester Valley included Braylen Williams (12 points) and Carter Strohman (9 points). Tyler Hansen led FSK with 13 points and Jordan Fulmore had 10.

Archbishop Curley 56, St. Mary’s 55: The host Friars (10-11, 6-5 MIAA B Conference Black Division) beat the Saints (9-15, 6-6). The win ended a four-game slide. Friday, Curley travels to Indian Creek and St. Mary’s hosts Severn.

Chapelgate Christian 70, Friends 67, OT: Julian Sabbat had 28 points and 13 rebounds and Justin Bishop had 24 points to lead the host Yellow Jackets (13-10, 5-7 MIAA B Conference Red Division) over the Quakers (4-13, 1-10). Friday, Chapelgate will host St. John’s Catholic Prep and Friends will host Gerstell.

C. Milton Wright 77, Harford Tech 31: Cayne Woodland’s 19 points helped him eclipse 1,000 in his career. He also passed 500 career assists Wednesday night.

Concordia Prep 50, Gerstell 40: The host Saints (10-11, 5-6 Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association B Conference Red Division) beat the Falcons (18-7, 7-4). In the loss, Caleb Franze scored 15 points. Colin Toms added 11 points and 11 rebounds. The Saints’ win halted a three-game slide.

Mount St. Joseph 60, McDonogh 48: The host Gaels (26-2) beat the Eagles (14-9). The victory was the eighth straight. Friday, Mount St. Joseph travels to Calvert Hall and McDonogh travels to Annapolis Area Christian.

Archbishop Spalding 66, Loyola Blakefield 63: The visiting Cavaliers (16-7) beat the Dons (16-10). Friday, Spalding travels to  St. Maria Goretti and Loyola travels to Glenelg Country.

Long Reach 60, Centennial 45: The Lightning continued to roll with their 15th win in a row. Jayden Saunders led the way with 18 points and RJ Barnes added 13 points. For Centennial, Josh Frazier had 19 points.

River Hill 70, Wilde Lake 61: Braden Sauritch erupted for a season-high 35 points in the win, setting the tone early with 10 first-quarter points. For Wilde Lake, Noah Brazil had a team-high 20 points. The Hawks led by five at halftime.

Howard 61, Atholton 56: Joseph Asubonten and Griffin Garner led the way for the Lions in the win. Garner finished with 22 points, while Asubonten chipped in 18. For Atholton, Amir Shaheed had 18 points, Camden Thibeault added 17 and Deion Dent chipped in 13.

Glenelg Country 75, St. Vincent Palotti 46: Patrick Curtin scored a game-high 25 points, including 12 in the third quarter. Akol Nyok added 16 points for the Dragons.
