Here’s a roundup of men and women’s state college lacrosse games this week.
Division I men
No. 4 Maryland 13, No. 5 Syracuse 12, 2OT: George Stamos scored the game-winner to lift the visiting Terps (3-0) over the Orange (3-1) in double overtime on Saturday. The game was tied six times in the second half. Braden Erksa led Maryland with four goals and an assist and goalie Logan McNaney had 14 saves. Syracuse’s Christian Mulé scored the tying goal on an assist from Owen Hiltz with 1:05 left in regulation to force overtime.
NJIT at Mount St. Mary’s, postponed: Saturday’s 11 a.m. game between the Highlanders (2-0) and Mountaineers (0-2) was moved to Sunday at 1 p.m. because of the winter weather forecast.
Division III men
Goucher 12, Methodist 8: Theo Cook IV (Edgewood) scored two of his game-high four goals during an opening 3-0 run by the visiting Gophers (1-0) on Saturday. The Monarchs fell to 0-1. Goucher will host McDaniel on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Salisbury 12, Scranton 5: The visiting Sea Gulls (4-0) opened the second half with a 5-2 run and beat the Royals (0-2) on Saturday. Riley Strub and Luke Nestor each scored three goals for Salisbury. The Sea Gulls will host Gettysburg on Saturday.
Stevenson 15, Muhlenberg 10: The host Mustangs (1-0) were down a goal before going on a 7-1 run in the fourth quarter to beat the Mules (0-1) on Saturday. Stevenson’s Max Racich and Muhlenberg’s Daniel Friedel each scored four goals. Stevenson travels to Christopher Newport on Saturday.
Eastern 14, Washington College 7: The visiting Eagles (1-0) built on their two-goal first-half lead with a 2-0 run in the third quarter and beat the Shoremen (0-1) on Saturday. Eastern got three goals from Connor Bachman, Nick Litzenberger and Brett Williamson. Ben Dickinson scored three goals for Washington College.
St. Mary’s at Juniata, postponed: Saturday’s 2 p.m. game between the Seahawks (1-0) and Eagles has been postponed. A makeup date has not been announced.
Hood 18, Neumann 13: Trailing by two goals, the visiting Blazers (1-0) went on a 7-1 run in the second quarter to pull ahead of the Knights (1-1) on Friday. Connor Flok scored a game-high five goals and Rip Muldoon and Robbie Wiley each scored four goals for Hood. Luke Sykes and Renzo Garone each had a hat trick for Neumann.
McDaniel at Neumann, postponed: Wednesday’s game between the Green Terror and Knights was postponed. No makeup date has been announced.
Division I women
No. 9 Maryland 9, No. 5 Syracuse 8, OT: Hannah Leubecker and Eloise Clevenger (Marriotts Ridge) teamed up on the game-tying and game-winning goals to lift the visiting Terps (2-0) over the Orange (1-2) on Saturday. Leubecker scored the tying goal with 8:09 left in regulation and the game-winner with 2:13 left in overtime. Clevenger assisted on both goals. Leubecker and Kori Edmondson (McDonogh) each had a hat trick and Clevenger had five assists.
No. 13 Johns Hopkins 17, No. 25 Duke 13: The visiting Blue Jays (3-0) went on a 5-2 run to start the second half and beat the Blue Devils (1-2) on Saturday. Hopkins was led by Ashley Mackin (4 goals), Ava Angello (3 goals) and Abby Hurlbrink (Bryn Mawr, 3 goals). Duke’s Caroline DeBellis had a game-high five goals.
No. 19 Navy 16, East Carolina 6: The host Mids (2-0) opened with a 6-1 run and routed the Pirates (2-1) on Saturday. Felicia Giglio made six saves for Navy. Emily Messinese (Gerstell) scored four goals and Tori DiCarlo and Kat McAteer each had three goals for the Mids.
UMBC 12, George Washington 4: The host Retrievers (2-1) opened with a 5-0 run and beat the Colonials (1-2) on Saturday. Katana Nelson and Kolby Weedon (Catonsville) each scored three goals for UMBC. The Retrievers travel to American on Saturday.
Delaware 13, Mount St. Mary’s 9: The host Blue Hens (3-0) used a 6-0 run that spanned both halves to pull away from the Mountaineers (0-2) on Saturday. Hailey Chester had a hat trick for Mount St. Mary’s. Delaware outshot the Mount, 27-17.
No. 7 Loyola Maryland 15, American 5: The visiting Greyhounds (2-0) broke a 1-1 tie with a 5-0 run in the first half and beat the Eagles (1-2) on Friday. Loyola was led by Chase Boyle (4 goals), Sydni Black (4 goals) and Georgia Latch (3 goals). The Greyhounds travel to No. 13 Johns Hopkins on Wednesday.
Delaware 9, UMBC 6: The host Blue Hens (2-0) used a 3-0 run in the third quarter to pull ahead of the Retrievers (1-1) on Wednesday. Both teams got two goals from two players: Jaclyn Marszal (Glenelg Country) and Callie Drab for Delaware and Libby Staples and Grace Bruce (Century) for UMBC.
Georgetown 13, Towson 5: Navy transfer Jo Torres (St. Mary’s) made 12 saves, but the host Tigers (1-1) fell to the Hoyas (2-0) on Wednesday. Gracie Driggs (St. Mary’s) scored a game-high five goals for Georgetown. Milana Zizakovic had a hat trick for Towson.
No. 13 Johns Hopkins 17, Siena 9: The visiting Blue Jays (2-0) went on a 6-0 run in the fourth quarter to build their lead over the Saints (0-1) on Sunday. Hopkins was led by Ashley Mackin with four goals an an assist, Ava Angello had three goals and three assists, Maeve Barker had two goals and two assists and Abby Hurlbrink (Bryn Mawr) had two goals and an assist. The Blue Jays outshot Siena, 38-22, and won 22 of 29 draw controls.
Division III women
Washington College 23, Drew 11: The host Shorewomen (1-0) went on a 9-0 run in the second half and routed the Rangers (0-1) on Saturday. Washington College was led by Piper Evans (4 goals), Mia Salvatierra (Fallston, 4 goals), Anna Wilson (Bryn, Mawr, 3 goals), Ashley Devlin (3 goals), and MaryCate Anson (3 goals). The Shorewomen travel to St. Mary’s on Wednesday.
Salisbury 14, Catholic 1: Kaitlyn Hunsinger (IND) made five saves to anchor a Sea Gulls defense that held the host Cardinals (0-1) to nine shots on goal on Saturday. Grace Doyle had a hat trick for Salisbury (2-0). The Sea Gulls travel to Washington & Lee next Sunday.
Roanoke 12, St. Mary’s 11: The host Maroons (1-0) took a 12-10 lead with 4:03 left to play and outlasted the Seahawks (0-1) on Saturday. Both teams traded goals in the first, second and fourth quarter. Roanoke outscored St. Mary’s, 4-3, in the third quarter. Colin Horton scored a game-high four goals for the Seahawks.
Randolph-Macon 11, Hood 6: The host Yellow Jackets (2-0) used a 6-0 run that spanned both halves to pull ahead of the Blazers (0-2) on Saturday. Evie McNeally (Archbishop Spalding) scored a game-high four goals for Randolph-Macon. Abby Burnette and Olivia Pickett each scored twice for Hood.
Gettysburg 12, Stevenson 2: Jordan Basso scored four goals and the host Bullets (1-0) routed the Mustangs (0-2) on Saturday. Gettysburg scored 12 goals in a row. Stevenson got single goals in the fourth quarter from Kara Yarusso and Sophia Murray.
McDaniel at Goucher, postponed: Saturday’s game between the Green Terror and Gophers was postponed and moved to Tuesday at 6 p.m.
