Girls basketball
Hereford 55, New Town 33: The Bulls won the Class 2A North Region II title with the victory over the Titans. Hereford trailed 11-7 after one quarter but took control in the second with an 18-9 run. The Bulls closed the game with a 20-4 fourth quarter. Lauren Kraft had a game-high 26 points in the win. Gabby Nieberlein backed her with 10 points.
Howard 57, Chesapeake-AA 35: The top seed Lions won the Class 3A South Region I title and punched their ticket to 3A state quarterfinals. Alana Harrison led the way with 18 points while O Daniel and Allie Masterson each chipped in 10 points in the win.
Hammond 59, Southern-AA 19: The Golden Bears punched their ticket to the Class 2A state quarterfinals. Asia Mitchell led the way with a double-double (18 points, 10 rebounds). Nia Green had 14 points, seven assists and seven rebounds. Sara Yarnell added 12 points and nine rebounds.
Fallston 42, North Harford 28: Ayla Galloway’s triple double with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 10 steals helped the Cougars secure Wednesday’s regional championship. Sophomore Brooke Bolesta and freshman Maura Lawall each chipped in nine points in the win. Natalie Wirth added five points while Leah Rhinehart and Jadin Woods had three points each.
