Here’s the weekly roundup of men’s and women’s college lacrosse games around the state.
Division I men
No. 7 Maryland 14, Brown 13, OT: Daniel Maltz scored the game-winner assisted by Braden Erksa with 3:18 left in overtime to lift the host Terps (5-1) over the Bears (0-5) on Saturday. Jack Kelly scored the tying goal for Brown with 45 seconds left in regulation. Maltz finished with four goals and Erksa had a game-high five in a matchup that featured five ties.
No. 6 Duke 16, Loyola Maryland 10: The visiting Blue Devils (6-1) broke a 7-7 tie with a 4-0 run to start the second half and beat the Greyhounds (2-5) on Saturday. Duke was led by Brennan O’Neill and Dyson Williams with four goals each. Loyola was led by Matt Heuston and Adam Poitras with three goals each.
Lehigh 12, Navy 10: The host Mountain Hawks (3-3, 1-0 Patriot League) scored the last two goals to take the lead for good and beat the Mids (3-3, 1-1) on Saturday. Navy was led by Henry Tolker (Loyola Blakefield) with four goals and Dane Swanson (McDonogh) with three.
No. 17 Richmond 13, UMBC 4: The visiting Spiders (4-2) used a 4-0 run in the first half to take control and beat the Retrievers (1-3) on Friday. Richmond’s Henry Alpaugh and UMBC’s Jordan Galloway each had a hat trick. The Spiders won 13 of 21 faceoffs and outshot the Retrievers, 45-29.
Binghamton 13, Mount St. Mary’s 12, OT: Liam Ferris scored the game-winner with 54 seconds left in overtime to lift the visiting Bearcats (2-3) over the Mountaineers (0-4) on Tuesday. Matthew Keegan scored the tying goal with 17 seconds left in regulation to force overtime. Keegan finished with a game-high five goals and Ferris had three. Brody Atkinson (St. Paul’s) had four goals for Mount St. Mary’s.
Notre Dame 14, Maryland 9: Maltz gave the visiting Terps a 1-0 lead with 9:11 left in the first quarter and the Fighting Irish (3-1) responded with a 4-0 run and never trailed again Sunday. Notre Dame was led by Jake Taylor (4 goals), Jordan Faison (3 goals) and Devon McLane (3 goals). Eric Malever had a hat trick for Maryland.
Division II men
Frostburg State 16, Malone 10: The visiting Bobcats (3-1) opened with a 6-0 run and beat the Pioneers (2-4) on Saturday. Chase Buckwalter (Westminster) scored two of his three goals and Bubba Love (Westminster) had three of his four assists during the run. Love finished with two goals.
Frostburg State 13, Walsh (Ohio) 5: The host Bobcats opened with a 5-0 run and beat the Cavaliers (0-4) on Tuesday. Frostburg State was led by Owen McCallum (Manchester Valley) with three goals and got two goals each from Chase Buckwalter (Westminster), Austin Sipes and Bubba Love (Westminster).
Division III men
Salisbury 17, York (Pa.) 11: The visiting Sea Gulls (6-0) rallied from a 3-0 deficit and beat the Spartans (2-3) on Saturday. Salisbury was led by Luke Nestor with six goals, Riley Strub with four and Jude Brown (John Carroll) with three. Nicholas Ramson made 11 saves for the Sea Gulls.
Hood 12, Delaware Valley 2: The visiting Blazers (4-2) opened with a 4-0 run and beat the Rams (2-2) on Saturday. Owen McDermott had three goals and four assists for Hood. Alex Dudziak made three saves for the Blazers.
Randolph-Macon 13, Washington College 10: The host Yellow Jackets (7-0) went on a 5-0 run that spanned both halves to pull ahead of the Shoremen (1-5) on Saturday. Washington College’s Ben Dickinson led all scorers with four goals.
Albright 14, Goucher 6: The visiting Lions (4-3) used a 6-2 run in the second quarter to build their lead over the Gophers (4-2) on Saturday. Jack Smith made six saves for Goucher. The loss broke a three-game winning streak.
Elizabethtown 17, St. Mary’s 10: A slow start hobbled the visiting Seahawks (3-2), who fell to the Blue Jays (1-4) on Saturday. St. Mary’s was held to two goals in the first half before trading goals with Elizabethtown in the second. Aiden Doyle (Broadneck) had a hat trick for the Seahawks.
McDaniel at Washington & Jefferson, ppd.: Saturday’s game between the Green Terror (5-0) and host Presidents (1-3) was postponed. A makeup date has not been announced.
McDaniel 19, Juniata 7: The host Green Terror opened with an 11-0 run and routed the Eagles (1-4) on Friday. Jason Fritz and Nick Wingo (Westminster) each scored four goals and AJ Johnson (Westminster) had three for McDaniel. Brighton Lorber (Loyola Blakefield) made six saves for the Green Terror.
Goucher 14, Neumann 8: The host Gophers went on an 8-2 run in the third quarter to pull ahead of the Knights (4-2) on Wednesday. Kevin Gearhart and Jack McDermott each scored three goals for Goucher.
Mary Washington 12, Washington College 10: The host Eagles (4-2) used two 3-0 runs in the second half to pull away from the Shoremen on Wednesday. Colin Gray (Broadneck) made 18 saves and Connor Garrison had a hat trick for Washington College.
Division I women
No. 7 Loyola Maryland 16, Towson 3: Chase Boyle scored five straight goals in the first half and Georgia Latch (3 goals, 1 assist) recorded her 200th career-point in the second quarter to lead the host Greyhounds (6-0) over the Tigers (2-4) on Saturday. Boyle’s natural hat trick started with 3:07 left in the first quarter and ended with 10:06 left in the first half. Jo Torres (St. Mary’s) made 11 saves for Towson.
No. 15 Johns Hopkins 14, No. 12 Stony Brook 12: Abbey Hurlbrink (Bryn Mawr) gave the Blue Jays (7-2) a 13-5 lead with 5:21 left in the third quarter and Hopkins weathered a late 7-0 run by the Seawolves (5-1) to win Saturday in Charlotte, North Carolina. Hurlbrink scored her second goal with 1:58 left to play for the final score.
No. 16 Navy 17, Jacksonville 8: Tori DiCarlo score five goals to lead the visiting Mids (6-1) over the Dolphins (2-5) on Saturday. Navy used a 6-0 run in the first quarter to take control.
UMBC 17, Manhattan 6: The host Retrievers (5-3) opened with a 6-0 run and led start to finish over the Jaspers (3-3) on Saturday. Grace Bruce scored four goals and Katana Nelson had three to lead UMBC.
High Point 8, Mount St. Mary’s 6: The visiting Panthers (3-2) took took an early 5-1 lead and held off the Mountaineers (1-5) to win at Sparks on Friday. Mount St. Mary’s defense, led by Ashlyn Watkins (Francis Scott Key) with seven saves, limited High Point to one goal each in the second, third and fourth quarters.
No. 7 Loyola Maryland 17, Georgetown 4: Sydni Black scored a career-high seven goals and the visiting Greyhounds routed the Hoyas (2-5) on Wednesday. Other leading scorers for Loyola included Georgia Latch (4 goals) and Chase Boyle (3 goals). Both Latch and Boyle scored their 100th career goal during the game.
No. 9 Maryland 20, William & Mary 5: The visiting Terps (5-1) extended their two-goal lead with a 7-0 run in the first half and routed the Tribe (3-4) on Wednesday. Hannah Leubecker and Maggie Weisman (Glenelg Country) each finished with a hat trick for Maryland.
No. 15 Johns Hopkins 21, Vanderbilt 3: The host Blue Jays (6-2) opened with an 8-0 run and routed the Commodores (3-2) on Wednesday. Ava Angello scored four goals and Taylor Hoss had three goals for Hopkins.
Drexel 13, No. 16 Navy 12: The visiting Dragons (4-2) used a 3-0 run in the fourth quarter to break a 10-10 tie and held off a late rally by the Mids to win Wednesday. Allison Drake (4 goals) scored back-to-back goals during the run. Lola Leone and Tori DiCarlo each scored three goals for Navy.
Towson 17, UMBC 6: Milana Zizakovic had four goals and two assists, Lindsey Marshall (Catonsville) had three goals and two assists and Katie Roszko (C. Milton Wright) had three goals to lead the visiting Tigers over the Retrievers on Wednesday. Jo Torres (St. Mary’s) made 10 saves for Towson and Isabella Fontana had eight saves for UMBC. The Tigers went on a 9-0 run that spanned both halves. Katana Nelson and Grace Bruce (Century) each scored twice for the Retrievers.
Mount St. Mary’s 14, Bucknell 8: The visiting Mountaineers added to their three-goal, first-half lead with a 5-1 run to start the second half and beat the Bison (1-4) on Sunday. Mount St. Mary’s was led by Mackenzi Furlong with four goals and Madison Harmening (Winters Mill) had three goals.
Johns Hopkins 13, Southern California 10: The host Blue Jays went on a 7-2 run in the second quarter to pull ahead of the Trojans (4-2) on Sunday. Johns Hopkins was led by Ashley Mackin (4 goals, 1 assist), Campbell Case (3 goals, 1 assist) and Jordan Carr (5 caused turnovers).
Division II women
Slippery Rock 12, Frostburg State 2: The Rock (3-0) opened with a 5-0 run and beat the visiting Bobcats (3-2) on Saturday. Neila Haney and Camden DeMaio each scored a goal for Frostburg State.
Frostburg State 12, Shepherd 9: Kerri Hayes scored a game-high five goals and Nicole Gray made nine saves to lead the host Bobcats over the Rams (1-2) on Wednesday. Kelsey King (Concordia Prep) had four goals for Shepherd.
Division III women
Stevenson 15, Rochester 14: Erin Steinberg (Towson) scored the game-winner with 16 seconds left to play to lift the host Mustangs (2-3) over the Yellowjackets (2-2) on Saturday. Stevenson trailed by two goals with 9:30 left and scored the last three goals to win. The Mustangs were led by Kara Yarusso (6 goals, 2 assists), Isabelle Van Emburgh (3 goals, 2 assists) and Kellyann Coccia (Harford Tech, 3 goals, 1 assist).
Marymount 11, Hood 6: The visiting Saints (2-1) went on a 4-0 run in the first half to increase their lead over the Blazers (1-5) on Saturday. MacKenzi Wright had a hat trick for Hood.
Bridgewater (Va.) 12, Goucher 4: The host Eagles (3-2) scored the last six goals of the game and beat the Gophers (1-4) on Saturday. Emily Burk (Perry Hall) scored twice for Goucher. Sydney Lewis (Carver A&T) made 14 saves for the Gophers.
Immaculata 17, Notre Dame (Md.) 4: The visiting Mighty Macs (4-1) ran off 12 straight goals in the first half and routed the Gators (1-2) on Saturday. Freshman Emily Funez (Catholic) scored twice and Jade Stewart and Cailyn Motta (Broadneck) each scored a goal for Notre Dame.
McDaniel 14, Bridgewater (Va.) 7: The host Green Terror (3-2) used an 8-0 surge in the fourth quarter to beat the Eagles (2-2) on Thursday. McDaniel was led by Addison Utterback with a game-high four goals and Emma Legacy (St. Mary’s) with three.
Washington College 13, Rowan 12: Mia Salvatierra (Fallston) scored the game-winner with 40 seconds left in regulation to lift the visiting Shorewomen (5-1) over the Profs (2-2) on Wednesday. Morgan Sutherland (Liberty) scored the tying goal for Washington College with 1:10 left to play. Salvatierra and Rowan’s Calista Burke each finished with four goals.
St. Mary’s 20, Capital 11: The Seahawks (4-2) finished strong on a 7-1 run in the fourth quarter and beat the Comets (4-2) Wednesday at Sparks. Hailey Betch (Severna Park) scored a game-high seven goals and Ella Baynes (Catholic) had four goals for St. Mary’s.
Wilson 16, Goucher 15: The visiting Phoenix (2-0) broke the fifth and final tie, 10-10, with a 3-0 run in the third quarter and led the rest of the way Wednesday. Katherine Luetgens scored the last three goals for the Gophers, which drew within a goal with 30 seconds remaining. Luetgens and Molly Smith each finished with four goals for Goucher.
Stevenson 19, Otterbein 4: The host Mustangs opened with a 10-0 run and routed the Cardinals (2-1) on Sunday. Kara Yarusso led all scorers with six goals and Bailey Krahl (Mercy) had a hat trick for Stevenson.
