Softball
Fallston 14, Edgewood 0: Madison Burns couldn’t have scripted a more dominant start to her season. She went 4-for-4 with eight RBIs and four runs scored in the Cougars’ win. She homered and doubled on the day. Abigail Marmen also went 4-for-4. She tripled twice and drove in three. Allyson Underwood got the win in the circle, striking out eight in five innings.
Patterson Mill 21, Aberdeen 2: Five Huskies had three hits in the game, but none with the clout of Savannah Reedy who went 3-for-3 with three home runs and six RBIs. Kenzie Knight, Kaylyn Pulket, Audrey March and Cadence Pfistner also had three-hit days. Knight, Pulket, Lily Baldwin and Pfistner each had two RBIs.
North Harford 6, Harford Tech 5: Mikaila Eltringham’s RBI single in the top of the seventh proved crucial, as the Hawks weathered the Cobras’ rally in the bottom of the seventh to hold on for the win. Jenna Trzeciak singled, doubled and drove in three in the win. Ashlie McMillan threw a complete game, getting the win. Katie Burr had three hits and two RBIs for Harford Tech.
Bel Air 11, Perryville 7: The Bobcats opened the season with three runs in the first inning and four more in the second. Ben Bowen homered, tripled and drove in two to lead the win. Jordan Kozak, Noah Shillman, Sean Roberts and Sean Ferrell also drove in runs, while Ben Sellers tripled twice.
C. Milton Wright 2, North East 1: The Mustangs and Indians were scoreless through seven innings. After exchanging runs in the eight, CMW got an RBI double from Maddie Youngworth that proved to be the difference. Izzie Youngworth threw all 10 innings in the circle, allowing six hits and striking out 16.
Century 19, Thomas Johnson 1: The Knights scored no fewer than three runs in any of the game’s five innings. They took advantage of 11 walks. Jordan Currie struck out 12 to get the win. Rileigh Coyle and Abby Mastria each had two hits for the Knights.
Francis Scott Key 12, Leonardtown 8: Jasmine Kline worked 6 ⅓ inning and struck out nine and the host Eagles beat the Raiders. Kline went 2-for-4 with a home run, five RBIs and three runs scored.
Linganore 10, Liberty 5: Erin Martin homered, doubled and singled, driving in two runs, but the Lions struggled to slow down Linganore in the season opener. Taylor Hoffman had two hits and two RBIs for Liberty, and Evelyn Connor also drove in a run.
Dulaney 3, Westminster 2: The Lions scored in the bottom of the sixth in what was a tied game. The Owls had 12 hits in the loss. Gina Sullivan, Kayla Garland and Bree Witter each had two-hit games. Sullivan and Libby Green drove in runs.
Carver A&T 11, Old Mill 3: Allison Pumphrey and Jocelyn Baker each had three hits to lead the visiting Bears over the Patriots. Pumphrey had four runs scored, three RBIs and a double and a triple. Baker had three RBIs, two runs scored and a double.
Tome 20, Concordia Prep 7: The Titans beat the host Saints (1-3). Freshman Reilly Miskelly drove in a pair of runs and scored twice for Concordia Prep. Nayla Myers had a double, and an RBI and Lila Singer had a run and an RBI for the Saints.
Glenelg 17, Marriotts Ridge 3: The Gladiators began the season with an offensive explosion with 18 hits, scoring 11 runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Jamie Shaw had a team-high four hits, while Abiola Owens, Kaylee Brogan and Kenzie Robinson each had two RBIs. Bella Wisniewski earned the win striking out four in six innings. For Marriotts Ridge, Gianna Peluso had two RBIs.
Centennial 6, Howard 3: The Eagles opened the season with a victory as Nicole Cavey earned the win, striking out seven in four innings. Lauren Jensen came on to close it out with three scoreless innings. Maddie Hall and Maddie Reese led the offense each with two hits.
Long Reach 22, Wilde Lake 1: Long Reach broke the game open with 17 runs in the first two innings with a dominant season-opening win. Madison Wise led the charge with four hits and a pair of RBIs, while Jordyn Isom added two hits and three RBIs.
Oakland Mills 19, Hammond 8: The Scorpions offense excelled in the season-opening win. Paige Andrews led the offense with four hits and three RBIs. Marjani Shaw and Coral Douglas each had multiple hits, while Viky Valverde also had three RBIs.
Reservoir 9, Mt. Hebron 8: The Gators held on for a season-opening win over the Vikings. Abbie Frisvold earned the win pitching 6 ⅔ innings, striking out six. Both Frisvold and Cambell Sagin had two hits while Andaiye Smith hit a two-run home run. For Mt. Hebron, Kaelyn Cisna had two hits, while MacKenzie had a double and three RBIs.
River Hill 18, Atholton 4: The Hawks offense exploded in a dominant season-opening win. Annie Levine earned the win with a six strikeout performance. Brooke Blakeslee was 3-for-4 with three RBIs, while Zoe Pachoca was 2-for-3 with three RBIs, including an inside-the-park home run. Cameron Lowe also hit a home run in her first varsity game, while Mary Maiorana was 2-for-4 with three RBIs.

Havre de Grace 5, Elkton 1: Taylor Blevins threw a two-hitter with seven strikeouts for the Warriors. At the plate, Bryce Bauer doubled and drove in three runs. Tyler Stwarka also drove in a run for the Warriors.

Perry Hall 5, Randallstown 4: Gavin Rayner lined a single to left to score Cameron Cooke in the bottom of the seventh to give the Gators the win over the Rams. Rayner had three hits on the day. JD Eckelt also drove in a run.
North Harford 10, Harford Tech 7: The Hawks trailed by four before rallying with four runs in the top of the sixth to tie. The game went to the 10th where North Harford scored three. Mason French and Tucker Deal had two-hit days for the Hawks. Jack Worden drove in two runs
Kenwood 15, Edgewood 5: The Blue Birds opened with five runs in the bottom of the first and never looked back. Kasen Wickline had two hits and three RBIs to lead the win. Joe Weir and Seth Trocki each had two hits and two RBIs.
Franklin 16, Dundalk 3: A seven-run third inning broke open the game for the Indians. Jacob Wise and Spencer Logwood highlighted the offensive show, each with two hits. Wise drove in three runs. Andy Guzman and Seth Wright each drove in two. Wright struck out seven in getting the win on the mound.
Key 15, Sts. Peter & Paul 4: Alex Neenan went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Chris Williams had a triple and two RBIs to lead the host Obezags (2-1, 1-1) over the Sabres (0-2, 0-2). Wyatt Dowton worked 3 ⅓ innings and struck out six for the win.
Glen Burnie 17, Francis Scott Key 1: Brandon Brown struck out five over four innings to lead the Gophers (1-0) over the host Eagles (0-1). Glen Burnie’s Dylan Kellner had a triple and drove in two runs and Mason Williams and Jordan Dailey each had two hits.
Glenelg 12, Marriotts Ridge 2: The Gladiators opened the season with a commanding win as Nick Bilotto, Danny Dorsey and Blake Bourne each had multi-hit games. Zach LaFountain earned the win, pitching four innings.
Long Reach 16, Wilde Lake 5: The visiting Lightning had 20 hits against the Wildecats in a season-opening win. Seth Rosenfeld (3-for-4) had a double and an RBI for Long Reach. Ethan Austraw had a team-high four hits and an RBI, while Noah Murdock and Aidan Watt each had two RBIs.
River Hill 3, Atholton 0: The Hawks earned a season-opening win behind a complete game gem from Henry Zatkowski. The senior struck out 16, while Anderson Dang and Jonathan Norwood each had two hits to lead the offense.
Hammond 16, Oakland Mills 0: Yaxiel Rivera struck out nine and allowed just one hit in five shutout innings for the Golden Bears. Chase Endres had a two-run double, while Rivera also went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, Kevin Barry contributed to the offense with a pair of hits and two stolen bases.
Glenelg Country 3, Mount Carmel 0: Trey Miller threw a two-hit shutout for the host Dragons (1-3, 1-3 MIAA B Conference Red Division). Miller walked one and struck out 10. The Cougars fell to 0-5, 0-3.
St. Frances 14, Concordia Prep 11: The host Panthers (1-1, 1-1 MIAA C Conference) drove in 12 runs over the first three innings and beat the Saints (2-1-1, 1-1). Jordan Mentzell homered and drove in three runs and Jonathan Couser had his fifth home run of the season for Concordia Prep.
Westminster 9, Dulaney 4: The Owls seized control of the game with a five-run second inning. Westminster had only two hits in the game. Will Mollman, Clayton Dorsey and Griffin Vincent all had an RBI for Westminster.
Thomas Johnson 3, Century 1: The Knights came out on the wrong end of a pitchers duel. Ryan Matthews struck out six in four innings, allowing two runs on four hits. Brody Clark pitched two innings, gave up one unearned run and struck out two. Dominic Crisp drove in Century’s run.
Girls lacrosse
Lansdowne 7, Owings Mills 1: Sophomore Alexis Kempf tallied three goals to lead the Vikings to an opening win. Madison Wurm, Kya Logan, Medary Velasquez and Cindy Lopez also scored in the win. Kaitlyn Markowski stopped 17 Owings Mills shots, while only allowing one goal.
Western Tech 10, Pikesville 8: The game was tied at 5 at halftime and 8 after three, but the Wolverines held the Panthers scoreless on their final five possessions. Lilah Jones scored five goals in the win. Suzie Metcalf collected five draw controls and Alyssa Dong made seven saves in goal.
Hereford 12, Westminster 9: Lindsey Moneymaker scored six goals to lead the Bulls over the Owls. Maya Antonakas backed her with three goals while collecting 10 draw controls. Katie Burks also netted a hat trick. Chloe Martin handed out three assists. Aspen Higgs led the Owls with three goals. Kate McAlonan and Morgan Steigerwald each scored two.
Poly 11, Glen Burnie 6: Reese Ancarrow scored three goals to lead the visiting Engineers over the Gophers. Poly opened with a 5-0 run.
Bel Air 14, Northeast-AA 3: Paige Feick and Riley Manzo each scored four goals to pace the Bobcats. Delaney Burrows and Mia Jourdan each had a goal and two assists for Bel Air. Eve Krout, Darby Doehring, Sophia Harrison and Brooke Conger. Molly Magee had two assists.
South River 12, Fallston 7: Alex Alto, Natalie Flor, Anna Burke and Adella Norton each had two goals for the winning Seahawks. Ava Lambros scored four goals for the Cougars in their opening loss. Anna Miller and Ayla Galloway also scored. EK Roeder and Can Tohner each made nine saves in goal.
Annapolis Area Christian 20, Indian Creek 4: Mia Hudlow scored twice to lead visiting AACS (1-0) over Indian Creek (1-1) Ellie Hansen and CJ Summa each scored a goal for AACS.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes 17, Catholic 7: Abby Slawinski scored a game-high seven goals and Sarah Fowler had five goals to lead the Falcons over the host Cubs (0-2). Gabby Caruso had six goals for Catholic.
Reservoir 12, Long Reach 11: The Gators edged out the Lightning for a season-opening win. Bailey Ko had a team-high four goals and two assists, while Taylor Sung added a hat trick and an assist. Lonice Gray made 10 saves in the win.
Marriotts Ridge 22, Centennial 5: The Mustangs built a commanding 12-2 halftime lead led by five goals from Jenna Cratin. Rachel Harper, Katie Leader and Chrish Vaxmonsky each added a hat trick, while Bella Boats excelled as a facilitator with a goal and three assists. For Centennial, Claire Whipkey had four goals.
Mt. Hebron 16, Howard 11: The Vikings won the season-opener behind a well-balanced offense. Ellie Smith led the way with five goals, while Olivia Hoover added four. Kaitlin Magdar had a hat trick, while Tylar Fleck scored twice. For Howard, Brynn Bartlett scored six goals, while Avery Graham scored twice.
South Carroll 11, Linganore 6: Leah Miller scored five goals and Charlotte Harrington had three goals to lead the host Cavaliers over the Lancers. Caelin Lopes totaled seven saves. South Carroll led 6-3 in the first half.
Manchester Valley 19, Catonsville 5: The reigning Class 2A state champion Mavericks picked up right where they left off, opening the new season with a decisive win. Emma Penczek tallied seven goals and two assists in the win. Taylor Fique and Haylee Bittinger each backed her with hat tricks. Addison Meyer had two goals and three assists, while Natalie Burmeister totaled two goals and two assists. Emelyn Scott and Carolyn Lowe also scored, with Scott handing out three assists and Lowe dishing out two.

Indian Creek 13, Annapolis Area Christian 6: Aiden Evans scored eight goals and Ty Spencer had 11 saves to lead host Indian Creek (2-2) over AACS (1-3).
Mt. Hebron 10, Howard 5: The Vikings led 4-2 at halftime and grew their lead in the second half. Keegan Ryan spearheaded the offense with five goals, while Maverick Smith and Will Kettering each scored twice with Smith adding an assist. Doug Cohen had a team-high two assists, while Luca LeClaire made seven saves. For Howard, Gus Rocha made five saves.
Reservoir 14, Long Reach 2: The Gators were dominant in a season-opening win as Kevin Sisk scored a team-high five goals and added an assist. Jack Nataro had a hat-trick and four assists, while Eli Nichols also had a hat trick.
Atholton 10, Oakland Mills 4: The Raiders defeated the Scorpions in the season opener. For Oakland Mills, Owen Anderson and Peter Farley each had a goal and an assist. Aiden Erbe made five saves.
Glenelg 16, River Hill 7: The Gladiators offense excelled in a season-opening win. Tim Iannarino guided the offense with a team-high five goals, also adding an assist. Conner Hammond also scored five times. Brandon Klopp scored twice and added an assist, while Zach Coughlin made eight saves. For River Hill, Nate Bacon had a hat trick, while Jack Hardman made eight saves.
Hereford 7, Westminster 3: The Bulls won on the road with Brenden Kittner leading the charge. Kittner scored three goals and assisted on a fourth. JP Revitte and Colin Ratta each scored twice in the win, while Luke Barnett made 11 saves in goal. Cam Webb had two goals and Connor McNamara made 13 saves for the Owls.
Sparrows Point 13, Eastern Tech 5: Gavin Weinhold scored twice in the Mavericks’ loss with Cole Burns, Josh Cannon and Jake Walker each adding a goal. In the net, Logan Phaison made 11 saves on the night.
Western Tech 8, Owings Mills 2: In the loss, the Eagles got goals from Andy Castro and Tristan Plummer.
Manchester Valley 14, Franklin 8: Grant Miller had his hand in six Mavericks goals, scoring three and assisting on three others. Gavin Reid topped the team with four goals. Connor Fique and Nick Grimm each finished with a goal and three assists. Braeden Fritz and Matt Foran scored twice while Simon Calhoun also had a goal. In net, Sean Eisenacher made six saves.
Patterson Mill 17, Elkton 3: Carson Gebhard had four goals, while Matt Bechtel and Rex Reynolds each backed him with hat tricks as the Huskies won big. RJ Wilhem, Todd Lewis and Drew Pape each scored twice. Wilhelm and Bechtel each handed out three assists.
Bel Air 7, Northeast-AA 6: The Bobcats trailed by a goal at halftime, but turned the game around with a 4-1 third quarter. Grant Smith had a hat trick in the win, while Ayden Shugart scored twice. Devin Trezciak had a goal and an assist, while Eli Hodgson also scored. Patrick Cook made 15 saves in goal.
Tennis
Fallston 9, Francis Scott Key 1: The Cougars swept the boys matches and added four more wins on the girls side. Singles wins game from Jesse Kilian, Gordon Lefkowitz, Juliana Kovalets and Lindsey Dettloff. Doubles wins came from the teams of Ryan Blair and Colby Resh, Zach Boczar and Luca Cangelosi, Edison Liu and Max Rueckert, Camryn Barrett and Meghan Perez, and Gwen Karantonis and Campbell Wheeler. FSK’s lone win came at No. 2 girls doubles from Anna Scott and Caroline Kohr.
