Girls lacrosse
Carver A&T 14, Lansdowne 3: For the Vikings in the loss, Medary Velasquez had two goals and Lindsey Sparrow had one. Kaitlyn Markowski made 11 saves in goal.
Spalding 9, John Carroll 7: Lydia Ward had a hat trick in the Patriots’ loss to the Cavaliers. Annie Minoglio scored twice with Grace Marchetti and Pieper McCue also scoring. McCue had five draw controls, including her career 100th.
North Harford 14, Rising Sun 0: Peyton Dawson made eight saves and Olivia Tucker had four caused turnovers and four groundballs on defense and the host Hawks shut out the Tigers. Olivia Bloom and Caroline Nicolson each scored three goals for North Harford. Gabby Stucinski and Emily Wilson each added two goals.
C. Milton Wright 16, South Carroll 7: Leah Miller scored four goals and Caelin Lopes made eight saves, but the visiting Cavaliers fell to the Mustangs.
City 15, Edgewood 3: In the loss, Moezella Robinson scored all three goals for the Rams.
South River 21, North County 9: Maggie Blanford and Riley Sheets each had a hat trick, but the host Knights (0-1) fell to the Seahawks (2-0).
Chesapeake 15, Old Mill 3: Kelsie Payne and Kaila Ansted (one assist) netted three goals each. Lexi Vosburg added two goals while Jasmine Fitzpatrick, Hadley Judy (one assist), Anna Kunes (one assist) and Kayla Bowman (one assist) added one goal. Olivia Hoot tallied two goals for the Patriots (0-1) while Bella Cummings had the latter.
Crofton 18, Southern 13: Kylie Corcoran netted her 100th career girl on her sixth for the Cardinals (1-0). Caroline McDonough and Carly Mathieu each added three, while Lyla Poknis, Emily Blades and Sophie Osborne all scored two goals. Jo Kocan had two assists. Bree Riggs made 11 saves. Emmie Mudd led the Bulldogs (0-1) with five goals.
Gerstell 19, Francis Scott Key 3: Maggie Kennedy had a goal and three assists and the Falcons (2-1) beat the host Eagles (1-1). Sara Fenwick and Carter Eberle each scored three goals for Grestell. Drew Watkins scored all three FSK goals and Tessa Barber caused three turnovers.
Boys lacrosse
McDonogh 12, Hill Academy (Canada) 9: The host Eagles (1-0) went on a 5-0 run in the fourth quarter to beat the Pride (2-2). The game featured eight ties, six in the first half. Ben Firlie scored four goals and Eli Schaller had a natural hat trick for McDonogh.
Concordia Prep 17, Gerstell 13: Wyatt Shamer, Josh Cruikshank, and Caleb Cruikshank each scored five goals to lead the host Saints (1-2) over the Falcons (1-1). Noah Hauf had two goals and an assist for Concordia Prep. Shamer and Colton Seifert each had two assists for the Saints.
South River 17, North County 5: Two Seahawks (1-0) netted five goals apiece: Trevor Phipps (four assists) and Danny Thibodeau (two assists), while Ethan Marcian had two goals and four assists. Jack Laye scored three and Greg Proud and James Kavney each scored one. For North County, Adam Biggs (three assists) and Matt Martel netted two goals.
North Harford 18, Rising Sun 4: Chase Thomas scored five goals and Preston Webb scored four goals to lead the visiting Hawks over the Tigers. Jacob Hermann added three goals and two assists. Nathan Sellers also scored twice, while Kent Holcombe and Caleb Kerr also netted goals.
Broadneck 13, Kent Island 6: Braden McCassie had two goals and an assist to lead the host Bruins over the Buccaneers.
Towson 11, Archbishop Curley 10: Alex Tyler had four goals and an assist to lead the visiting Generals (1-0) over the Friars (1-2) on Thursday. Connor Parks and Jackson Kanzler each scored twice. Max Kosmides, Hudson Arrup and Ansen Park also had goals with Park handing out two assists. Alex Hochrein made 13 saves for Towson.
Northeast softball posts dominant season debut, beating McDonogh, 15-2

Fallston 20, Aberdeen 1: Maddy Burns followed up her four-hit, eight-RBI game Thursday by going 5-for-5 with a triple and six RBIs against the Eagles. Abigail Marmen had her second 4-for-4 games in as many days. She had a home run and three RBIs. Allyson Underwood had three hits and drove in three runs. Sara Frist also went 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles.
Bel Air 5, Arundel 4: The Bobcats rallied with two runs in the bottom of the eighth. Claire Bowden tied it with an RBI single, then scored the winning run on Alaina Torrence’s RBI double. To get to extra innings, Bel Air scored off an Arundel error in the bottom of the seventh.
Hereford 7, Patapsco 1: Taylor Roberts threw a three-hitter with 13 strikeouts as the Bulls shut down the Patriots. Ryleigh Collins had a home run to lead the offense. Roberts, Morgan Ford, Aly Wegrzyn and Emma Martin all had two hits with RBIs. Morgan Hall also drove in a run.
Perry Hall 4, Towson 2: The Gators got a complete-game, nine-strikeout effort in the circle from Amelia Kitchin as they shut down the Generals. Kamryn D’Amico doubled in two runs to pace the offense. Alyssa Lewis also had an RBI and Rileigh Kitchin had two hits.
Western Tech 10, Dundalk 8: Western Tech jumped out to an 8-0 lead and held off Dundalk down the stretch. Jada Williams had two hits and three RBIs for the Wolverines. Juliahna Thomas backed her with two hits and two RBIs. Danica Minter, Bailey Allen and Isabella Alban also drove in runs.
Manchester Valley 4, Harford Tech 3: Kasey Thomas stole a base, then scored on a throwing error in the top of the seventh for the winning run. Grace Wood drove in two runs for the Mavericks. Hailey Facchine struck out nine in a five-hitter.
South Carroll 8, Frederick 1: The Cavaliers won their opener thanks in part to N Brosenne. In the circle she allowed one unearned run on five hits, while striking out three. At the plate she went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and an RBI. Maddie Wright, Alayna Enoff, Kinleigh Smith and Myla Bell also drove in runs.
North County 7, Westminster 6: The Owls swung hot bats despite the loss. Kayla Garland went 4-for-4. Kaitlyn Clark singled, tripled and drove in two runs. Bree Witter also had two hits.
Catoctin 8, Liberty 7: After scoring four runs in the top of the seventh, the Lions couldn’t hold their lead, surrendering three in the bottom of the frame. Erin Martin, Hannah DeVincent and Allison Bald all had two hits for Liberty, with Bald driving in three runs and Martin chasing in two.
Mt. Hebron 5, Marriotts Ridge 1: Abby Madgar excelled in the circle for the Vikings (2-0), pitching a complete game and striking out nine. Magdar also added two hits at the plate. Danielle Green had two hits and an RBI, while MacKenzie Brooks also had an RBI. For Marriotts Ridge (0-2), Gianna Pelosu went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Reservoir 18, Oakland Mills 1: The Gators offense was firing on all cylinders with 23 hits in the victory. Abbie Frisvold led the offense finishing 4-for-5 with a double and an RBI. Cambell Sagin was 3-for-4 with three RBIs, while Keira Walsj also had three hits and two RBIs. Andaiye Smith added a double and four RBIs.
Centennial 24, Wilde Lake 4: The Eagles (2-0) offense exploded in the win. Maddie Reese and Layla Schoryer each had a hit and three RBIs to spearhead the offense. Seven different Centennial players had a hit. For Wilde Lake (0-2), Ainslee Torres had two hits and two RBIs.
Long Reach 17, Atholton 1: The Lightning (2-0) offense continued to roll in a dominant win. Amelia Bross earned the win in the circle, striking out eight in five innings, also with a pair of doubles at the plate. Emily Eakes had a double and three RBIs, while Abby Richardson went 2-for-2 with two RBIs.
Glen Burnie 12, Winters Mill 2: Alexis Abrams doubled and drove in three runs, while Addison Elkins had two hits and a double and two RBI to guide the offense. Five other Gophers each added at least a hit, with Kaylee Fischer and Jayla Richardson (triple) hitting two. Fischer collected the win in the circle for the Gophers (1-0).
Crofton 10, Urbana 1: The Cardinals hit four home runs with Marley Connor smacking two. Noelle Nercessian and India Stokes claimed a home run each. Connor (4-for-4) secured five RBIs, followed by Stokes and Jasmine Baubert, who each had two. Lynsie Herman struck out 15 in five innings in the circle.
St. Mary’s Ryken 6, Archbishop Spalding 1: The Cavaliers (0-1) could not score until the seventh inning, when Mya Lamp knocked a solo home run to left field. Jayda Betts and Lily Davey added a hit apiece. Makenna Dean took the loss (4 13 IP, five hits, four runs, six walks, two strikeouts).
Broadneck 13, Southern 0: The Bruins (1-0) exploded for five runs in the seventh inning. Sam Waters and Mara Gilkey collected two RBIs apiece while Addie Cornelius, Bella Herrera and Abby Favazza each claimed one. Waters took a complete-game win, striking out 10 while only giving up two hits and two walks.
Long Reach baseball’s offense continues to roll in 17-1 win over Atholton

Franklin 8, Kenwood 1: Ben Deutschendorf and Andy Guzman combined on the one-hitter. Deutschendorf went the first six innings, striking out 12. He also had a hit and two RBIs. The Indians erupted in the late innings, scoring four in the top of the sixth and four more in the seventh. Matt Guzman and Spencer Logwood also drove in two.
Perry Hall 6, Eastern Tech 1: AJ Mendoza allowed one unearned run on two hits in 6 2/3 innings to pick up the win for the Gators. He struck out 12 Mavericks on the day. Mendoza also homered in the win. Randy Johnson tripled and drove in two runs. Ryan Bruce and Santana Mendoza also drove in runs.
Dulaney 11, Pikesville 9: The Lions collected 13 hits and held off the Panthers. Drew Ranck had a two-run home run and also singled home two runs. Dylan Townsend tripled and drove in three runs. Maddox Helme finished with three hits, including two doubles, and drove in two.
Hereford 8, Bel Air 5: The Bulls won their opener, rallying back after giving up five runs over the first two innings. Ryan Larkin and Kreis Metz each homered in the win. Liam Kopajtic and Leighton Alsip each had two hits and two RBIs for the Bulls.
Southern 10, Key 0: The host Bulldogs shut out the Obezags (2-3). Angus Lunt-Woodward doubled and Alex Neenan went had a hit for Key.
Broadneck 5, St Mary’s 4, 8 innings: Teagan McDonough went 2-for-3 with a double, but the host Saints (3-3) fell to the Bruins (1-0) in extra innings. Brennan Moran went 2-for-4 for St. Mary’s. The loss was the third straight.
Harford Tech 5, Manchester Valley 4: The host Cobras scored the go-ahead run in the fifth inning and beat the Mavericks. Reliever Max Swart threw five innings for the win. Swart had an RBI triple and scored a run.
John Carroll 15, Mount Saint Joseph 8: Casey Carpenter (3-for-4) had a home run and four RBIs to lead the visiting Patriots (2-1, 2-1 MIAA A Conference) over the Gaels (5-2, 1-2). John Carroll won twice in the three-game series against MSJ this week.
Westminster 16, North County 6: Chase Taylor went 4-for-5 with a double and two RBIs, while Brandon Barrett and Nate Bouthner each drove in three in the Owls’ win. Barrett was 3-for-3 and Griffin Vincent had a two-hit day. The Owls posted six runs in the bottom of the first and never looked back.
South Carroll 10, Frederick 4: Brody Green doubled, tripled and drove in three runs to lead the Cavaliers to a season-opening win. Cole Wagoner had a pair of singles and also drove in three runs. Braden Cordrey added two hits and two RBIs to the winning effort.
Urbana 16, Century 9: Chase Speiden homered, singled and drove in four runs, but the Knights couldn’t hold down Urbana. Also for Century, A Schulze homered with three RBIs.
Mt. Hebron 7, Marriotts Ridge 2: Austin Kehres earned the win striking out six in five innings of work, allowing just two hits. Lucas Edwards had two hits and an RBI to lead the offense. For Marriotts Ridge, Jonah Obitz hit a two-run home run.
River Hill 3, Howard 1: Jonathan Norwood had two hits in the win, while Anderson Dang had a hit and an RBI. Thomas Jayne excelled on the mound with eight strikeouts in six innings, and Jake Miller came on for the save for the Hawks (2-0). Dylan Abrahams drove in Howard’s run.
St. John’s 13, Archbishop Spalding 3: The Cavaliers surrendered seven runs in the sixth inning to take their second loss (4-2). Brennan Iscoe (RBI) and Braeden Martin each had a double. Cruz Luna and Jacob Ruiz had an RBI each.
Girls tennis
South Carroll 4, Frederick 1: The Cavaliers swept doubles play, losing just four games total over the three matches. Wins came from the teams of Audrey Lillycrop and Caroline Aliftiras, Callie Chesney and Brooklyn Weitzel, and Sophie Kebede and Evelyn Crook. Sydney Mossman added a win at second singles.
Boys tennis
Frederick 1, South Carroll 4: The Cavaliers’ lone win came at third doubles where Riley Spencer and Sohan Pilli won 7-6, 6-1.
Coed tennis
North Harford 8, Elkton 1: Logan Harrity and James Cassidy won contested singles matches for the Hawks. Emma Clayton, Stella Manns and Arie Howell won on the girls side. Among doubles winners were the teams of Mekenzie Mcann and Jenna Rohe, and Jzaleilah Barroquillo and Emily Johnson.
