High school sports roundup (April 3)

Here’s a roundup of high school varsity action on Wednesday, April 3.

Girls lacrosse

Patterson Mill 24, Elkton 3: Addison Harmel and Riley Madsen impressed with five goals each in the overwhelming win. Samantha Chittum and Riley Crain added three apiece for the Huskies.

Reservoir 10, Old Mill 9: Paige Malwitz led the Gators with a hat trick, while Bailey Ko added a pair of goals and two assists. Lonice Gray made 10 saves in the win.

Long Reach 16, Northeast-AA 5: Bella Mooney led the Lightning offense with five goals, while Samantha Legge added a hat trick and three assists. Alaina Norton had a hat trick and two assists, while Chiara Pompei also chipped in a hat trick.

River Hill 14, North County 4: Katelyn Sauritch spearheaded the Hawks offense with five goals in the win. Gabby Bergstrom shined as a facilitator with five assists to go with three goals of her own. Charlotte Laraway also had a hat trick and an assist for RIver Hill. For North County, Maggie Blanford had two goals.

Marriotts Ridge 12, Broadneck 11: Bella Boats guided the Mustangs over the Bruins in a close battle with a hat trick. Katie Leader had two goals and an assist, while Jenna Cratin and Chrish Vaxmonsky also scored twice.

Mt. Hebron 19, South River 14: The Vikings’ offense exploded in the win led by nine points (six goals, three assists) from Kaitlyn Magdar. Olivia Hoover also scored six times and added an assist, while Ellie Smith tacked on five goals. Alex Alto led the Seahawks with five goals in the loss, followed by Annabella Burke with four.

Glen Burnie 13, Oakland Mills 1: Dakota Smith totaled five goals in the Gophers’ win. Haylie Zaleskiwicz backed her with three. Sydney Green chipped in two goals, while Kylee Mitchell, Allyson Miller and London Logan all scored one.

Chesapeake-AA 18, Atholton 3: Lilly Patrick scored five goals and assisted on another. Kelsie Payne was right behind her with four goals. Kaila Ansted chipped in two goals as 10 Cougars scored in the win. Skylar Huber made six saves in goal.

Gerstell 21, Concordia Prep 2: Ten Falcons scored in the blowout win. Carter Eberle’s five goals led the team. Reagan Ramsey and Sara Fenwick each netted three. Maggie Kennedy, Reese Eberle and Preslee Borek all scored two with Kennedy also handing out two assists. Lauren Polk had a team-best five assists.

St. Ignatius (Ca.) 11, Liberty 5: In the loss, Annika Wray scored three for the Lions and Maddy Smith tallied the other two goals. Wray, Kourtney Goff and Sophia Carpinetti all had assists.

Boys lacrosse

South River 8, Mt. Hebron 6: The Seahawks outlasted the Vikings, building a 7-3 halftime lead. Ben Adams led the way with five goals and an assist, while Trevor Phipps had a hat trick and two assists. Conner Campbell made 10 saves for South River. For Mt. Hebron, Maverick Smith scored twice, while Kyle Ratta had a goal and an assist. Luca LeClaire made 11 saves for the Vikings.

Chesapeake-AA 15, Atholton 1: Chase Bivens scored five to lead the win. Talan Behler also totaled five points on three goals and two assists. Nathan Wheeler chipped in two goals and an assist. Jake Blanch, Shawn Parks, Stephen Davis and Cade Shannon also scored.
