Here’s a roundup of high school varsity action on Thursday, April 4.
Baseball
Westminster 5, North Harford 4: The Owls opened up a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, but after the Hawks rallied, Westminster came back with two in the top of the fifth to pick up the win. Will Mollman singled, doubled and drove in two runs in the win. Griffin Vincent and Brandon Barrett also drove in runs. Tucker Deal doubled and drove in two runs for North Harford.
Harford Tech 3, North East 2: Ethan Prevost doubled in the go-ahead run in the bottom of the fifth and Max Swart’s relief pitching made it hold up. Swart pitched the final three innings striking out three. Swart also had two hits at the plate. Ben Kiedrowski and Aiden Sullivan also drove in runs.
Girls lacrosse
Bel Air 11, Harford Tech 8: Paige Feick and Riley Manzo each scored four times and the Bobcats edged the Cobras. Delaney Burrows had two goals and an assist, while Darby Doehring had a goal and three assists. Jordan Strang scored three goals to lead Harford Tech.
Fallston 12, North Harford 3: Ava Lambros scored five goals to lead the host Cougars over the Hawks. Anna Miller had three goals and four draw controls and Sydney Grafton had five assists for Fallston. Emily Wilson, Sophie Deibler and Arlynn Goodman scored for North Harford.
Patterson Mill 16, Perryville 7: Samantha Chittum had seven goals and four assists to lead the visiting Huskies (2-0) over the Panthers. Riley Madsen had four goals and two assists and Ava Lopano had three goals and an assist for Patterson Mill.
Loch Raven 22, Dundalk 0: The Raiders raced out to a 9-0 lead and never looked back in the shutout win. Charlotte Gongon netted four goals to lead the attack. Molly Frey had a team-best five points with two goals and three assists. Also in the win, Grace Landry and Joslen Klennert each recorded hat tricks. Alli Henning went 6-for-6 on draws and Sarah Watkeys was 9-for-11. Each also scored two goals.
Severn 8, Mercy 7, 3OT: Maddie Ripley scored the game-winner to lift the host Admirals (2-4, 1-2 Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference) over the Magic (2-5, 1-5) in triple overtime. The win halted a four-game slide. Friday, Severn travels to Archbishop Spalding and Mercy hosts Glenelg Country. Issy Leech had a hat trick and Courtney Frances had two goals for the Admirals.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes 8, Cohoes (N.Y.) 7, 3OT: Abby Slawinski scored a game-high five goals to lead the Falcons (5-3) over the Tigers () at US Lacrosse in Sparks. Carli O’Hara had four goals for Cohoes.
Boys lacrosse
Owings Mills 7, Parkville 4: Ryshawn Byrd matched Parkville’s total himself with four goals in the Eagles’ win. Alex Noguera backed him with two goals, while Andy Castro also scored. Charles Elendu handed out a pair of assists.
Eastern Tech 13, Perry Hall 8: Brayden Polly won 8 of 11 faceoffs and the host Mavericks (1-1) beat the Gators (1-1). Eastern Tech was led by Cole Burns (5 goals), Gavin Weinhold (4 goals, 3 assists) and Josh Cannon (4 goals, 1 assist). Logan Phaison made seven saves in goal
Bel Air 14, North Harford 5: The visiting Bobcats took an 8-2 lead in the first half and beat the Hawks. Bel Air was led by Grant Smith with four goals and two assists, Devin Trzeciak with three goals and an assist and Aydan Shugart with three goals.
Mount St. Joseph 6, St. Ignatius (Ohio) 4: Reed Herbert scored twice and the host Gaels (6-2) finished on a 2-0 run to pull ahead of the Wildcats (3-3). Tyler Superczynski scored the go-ahead goal assisted by Joey Fantinato for a 5-4 Mount St. Joseph lead with 7:34 left in the game. Herbert added the insurance goal with 6:58 left to play. St. Ignatius went 0-2 against Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference opponents after falling 15-8 to Gilman on Tuesday.
