Baseball
Fallston 13, North Harford 1: The Cougars broke open the game with seven runs in the second inning. Aidan Deck homered, singled and drove in two runs, while Nate Slicher had three RBIs to lead the offense. Drew Murphy had two hits and an RBI, Zach Loewe drove in two and Jake Plummer had two hits including a double.
Havre de Grace 5, Bel Air 1: The Warriors built a 5-0 lead after two innings and cruised to the win. AJ Rogers homered to power the offense. Dyllon Zachry-Nance, Bryce Bauer and Logan Ward all had two-hit days with Bauer and Ward also driving in runs.
Aberdeen 15, Edgewood 5: Sean Doron had three hits and three RBIs to lead an Eagles offense that racked up 14 runs on the day. Jayden Saunders added two hits and three RBIs, while KJ Miller doubled twice and drove in a run. Matt Cataldi added two RBIs for Aberdeen, who took control with seven runs in the second inning.
Severn 8, Gerstell 3: Matt Fisher threw 5 2/3 innings of two-hit ball to lead the Admirals to the win in their home opener. Severn stole 10 bases in the game with Fletcher Warner stealing three. For Gerstell, Gavin Larson, Ryan Morrison and John Davis each finished with two hits.
Century 15, Manchester Valley 7: The Knights put up four runs in the top of the first and put the game away with 10 runs across the fourth and fifth innings. Chase Speiden went 4-for-5 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Austin Schulze singled, doubled and drove in five runs. Ryan Matthews had two hits and two RBIs, while Dominic Crisp and Dominic Califano each had three-hit games.
South Carroll 15, Winters Mill 9: The Cavaliers capped off a wild game with six runs in the bottom sixth to break a tie and pick up the win. Hayden Rathmann and D Wilson each drove in two runs in the win with Wilson getting two hits. Jackson Wineke, Caleb Evans, Braden Cordrey, Kevin Avery and Cole Wagoner all drove in runs for South Carroll.
Francis Scott Key 5, Westminster 4: Down 4-1 going into the fifth, FSK rallied to force extra innings, where Nate Hobbs’ fielder’s choice in the bottom of the ninth produced the game-winning run. Colton Feister doubled twice, singled and drove in a run in the win. Ben Stevens and Brian Koterba also drove in runs.
Softball
Perry Hall 6, Sparrows Point 5: The Gators were consistent, scoring a run in each of the first five innings – including two in the second – and held off the Pointers. Savannah Carl and Jenna Neff each had two hits and two RBIs. Addison Dunlap also drove in a run.
Havre de Grace 23, Joppatowne 10: Kinsey Mentzer homered, doubled and drove in five runs to lead the Warriors’ big day. Bayleigh Carstetter tripled and drove in three runs. Also for the Warriors, Sarah Weitzel drove in two and Brielle Croxsell had three hits.
Fallston 8, Bohemia Manor 5: After spotting the Eagles a 5-0 lead, the Cougars put up four runs in the fifth and four more in the sixth. Maddy Burns and Allyson Underwood each had two hits and two RBIs. Sara Frist and Peyton Greiner each added two hits with RBIs.
Century 3, Manchester Valley 0: Jordan Currie threw a five-hit shutout, striking out nine, to lead the Knights, who won despite getting just five hits of its own off two Manchester Valley pitchers. Lizzy Ferment doubled and drove in all three Century runs.
South Carroll 17, Winters Mill 5: Maddie Wright had two hits and four RBIs in the Cavaliers’ offensive eruption. Alayna Enoff, Sophia Pugliese, Myla Bell, Skyla Edmands and Katelyn Abell all drove in two runs in the win. Six Cavaliers had two hits in the game.
Francis Scott Key 10, Westminster 0: Emma Taff doubled twice, singled and drove in three runs for the Eagles. Kendall Jackman also drove in three runs in the win. Jasmine Kline pitched a two-hit shutout with nine strikeouts.
Girls lacrosse
Century 18, Francis Scott Key 3: The Knights were the epitome of balanced in the win. Delaney Sandbank, Natalie Opatovsky and Marley Carfine all scored four goals in the win. Sandbank and Opatovsky handed out two assists and Carfine had one. Harli Hamlett was right behind the trio with three goals and an assist.
Gerstell 11, St. John’s 9: Carter Eberle netted four goals and Piper Gallagher totaled five points to lead the Falcons to the win. Gallagher finished with three goals and two assists. Addy McIlvain chipped in two goals, Preslee Borek had a goal and an assist, Reilly Sullivan scored a goal and Lauren Polk chipped in an assist. Ava Reed made six saves.
Annapolis Area Christian School 16, Friends 11: Skyler Sensenbrenner racked up six goals to lead AACS. Ellie Hansen, Addie Roush and CJ Summa each had a hat trick.
Severn 15, Mount de Sales 10: Issy Leech totaled nine points on six goals and three assists to lead the Admirals. Courtney Francis scored three goals and Peach Wellschlager chipped in two goals and two assists. Kelsey Pozdol, Sally Reed, Brownyn Bolton and Suzy Urban all also scored.
Boys lacrosse
Hereford 9, C. Milton Wright 4: The Bulls were down 4-2 at halftime, but rallied for the win outscoring the Mustangs 7-0 in the second half. Brenden Kittner led Hereford with three goals and two assists. JP Revitte was right behind with with two goals and two assists. Brady Manankil finished with two goals and one assist. Defensively, Zach Baker collected four ground balls and caused three turnovers. Luke Barnett made 10 saves in goal.
Girls tennis
Manchester Valley 4, Century 1: The Knights’ Bella Filippi won the No. 1 singles match 6-1, 6-1, but the Mavericks swept the rest of the day with Emily McElwaine winning second singles. Doubles wins came from Talula Castanzo and Madison MacGregor, Tori Kelley and Olivia Watts, and Brylee Jones and Summer Jordan.
South Carroll 3, Winters Mill 2: A doubles sweep led the Cavaliers past the Falcons. Audrey Lillycrop and Caroline Aliftiras won the No. 1 match. Other wins came from the teams of Callie Chesney and Brooklyn Weitzel, and Sophie Kebede and Anissa Smith. Winters Mill’s Sara Gardner and Leah Benfer won singles matches.
Boys tennis
Winters Mill 4, Century 1: Micah Ober and Wade Hayes only lost a combined five games to take the two singles matches. Peter Towle and Cole Geiman, and Renzo Balsamo and Anthony Marinucci were doubles winners. Michael Mooney and Cole Hastings won the No. 1 doubles match for South Carroll.
