The Orioles’ playoff run ended quickly. When will fans get their tickets refunded?

When Orioles playoff tickets went on sale, fans could pick among 10 potential postseason games at Camden Yards. Only two of them were played, both Orioles losses, as Baltimore’s local nine were again swept out of the playoffs.

So … when will fans get their money back for tickets they bought for the other eight games?

According to the Orioles’ website, refunds for tickets will “automatically be posted” back to the credit card used for payment no later than Oct. 25.

This will apply for playoff tickets (not including season tickets) for Game 3 of the American League wild-card series or any games in the AL Division Series or AL Championship Series.

For tickets purchased as part of a season plan, the value of the unused ticket will be “automatically credited” to the season-ticket holder.

Baltimore made the playoffs in consecutive years for the first time since 1996-97. After last season’s postseason disappointment, the hope was this October would produce better results.

But the Orioles’ bats went cold against the Kansas City Royals in both games at Camden Yards last week, scoring only one run in two games, a 1-0 loss in Game 1 and a 2-1 defeat in Game 2. The losses followed what was a mediocre second half for a team that spent the previous year and a half as one of baseball’s best ballclubs.

The defeats extended the Orioles’ playoff losing streak to 10 games — the longest active stretch in MLB. Only three teams in MLB history have suffered a longer streak, which dates to 2014.

“I feel terrible,” first baseman Ryan O’Hearn said. “Terrible for our fans and feel like we let them down. Just sucks.”

Despite being only the ninth and 10th playoff games at Camden Yards this century, neither postseason contest last week was sold out. Game 1 drew an announced 41,506 fans, and Game 2 brought in 38,698 fans.

The underwhelming attendance figures can be attributed to myriad factors, including the weekday playoff games beginning in the afternoon. Orioles attendance in 2024 was up 17.8% compared with 2023 — one of the sport’s highest upticks — but still ranked only 19th in MLB.
